Hey guys, I know there's a few on this board with a set of these. I just put some in my new motor and was curious of how others adjusted their preload.

I did one full turn past zero lash. What did you guys do?

Thanks,
jason

Lifters like between .025 and .075 as a rule. You should have between .035 and .050 depending on the adjuster thread count on a 1/4 and beteen .041 and .055 for a 5/16 adjuster.
Think your perfect but I have to think this hints to an issue?

Hey Robert, hope your day was well.

It might be more of issue with my head than the truck. I'm having a hard time getting used to these vacuum readings on the new engine. I'm tuning for efi now so I'm looking at them during all my drives. 15hg is about max. Mostly just wanted to make sure I didn't adjust the valves too tight, losing any additional vacuum that might be had.

The lifter is only effected by oil pressure through put the plunger range. So long as you have not mechanicaly bottomed and not blocking the oil inlet holes the preload position will make no difference.

What cam did you end up going with? If its the split duration isky cam the most vacuum that I have ever gotten on that one was 15.5" and that was after extensive tuning performed by bill hamilton himself.

Thanks as usual sir!

That's it Jeff, split duration isky. Thank you for letting me know that.

You guys have a good day.
