MLK Day at Hollister

im headed down with a few folks to hollister on mlk day in a couple weeks. If anyone is interested in getting out in the dirt let me or oakland jack know. We are looking forward to exploring the area for the first time. Funny how we always drive to the sierras to wheel and have not been to the local spot!

That might be a good day to try out my project truck: 66 1100 4x4. It is far from finished but it runs....

What is the plan?

we would love to have ya!

We are going to leave livermore around 630am and head down. I figure its about 1.25 hours from my place. You can drive with us or meet us there. We don't have a plan for how the day works out. Probably stay through lunch and then head back around 3 or 4.

Let us know if you want to come with!

Oh how I wish I could. Non of my rigs are mobile at the moment. I been so busy wrenching on other people's rigs that I haven't had time to work on my own. Maybe, once I finish with ron's 69 and if he has time, we could take his down.

it looks like mlk day is the 21st this year.
Are you going to hollister on the 19th or the 20th?

Turns out that mlk day is one of those federal holidays that my full time job does not observe. Silly. This next week, I will put in for vacation day off for that day. I will keep ya posted. I would love to go. Maybe get over my anxiety, since the last time I was there, I rolled my 74 Scout - whoops
 
Sounds like we May have a fun group going on Monday for a day in the dirt.

Let me know if your going for sure and what spot you all think might be a good spot to meet up at. I did some reading and they open the gate at 8am. I hope to be at the gate by 8:30am. Lets plan to be out in the woods by 845.

Well - time for me to call into work for a sick day. I didn't have time to put int for a vacation day.

As a side note - since I haven't had time to actually work on my own Scout, I aint walken to hollister. If I take the day off from wrenching on any of my projects, is any one passing through richmond area? Or near a bart station?
 
I must change my status to a deffnit maby. Thi.gs have come up I must tend to . So if I make it at all it wonte be till Monday .

Hey guys-
plan is as follows for a few of us. Since I have never been there I plan to meet at the gate to enter the ohv park at 8am. We will probably be there airing down tires and taking some rigs off trailers for a bit. My hope is to meet up with everyone and be able to crawl around together.

Is there a way to find each other on the trail? I am not sure about how the trails work there. If we go out on one will we be on it all day? Or are they sorta quick out and backs?

Post up by Sunday night if you think you make it so we can all find each other.

You will pay/check in at the ranger station at the motercycle park . There you will get the gate code for the 4wd park . The gate is at the school house about a mile up ceinga road .
Your best bet is to head up to the obstical cours camp ground to off load & air down . Scymore camp is much nicer but will probly be full. The obstical cours is a perfict meeting place and prety much centrial . Its usualy a good place to watch other people get crazy and break stuff .
You can usualy run most of the trails in about a hour or so . Altho my son and I were in the jungel for about 9 hours one day .
Cb 's work prety well in the park . But it is best to identify your camp some how and circle back to the obstical cours every sooften. If you are trying to hook up with some one .
As of now I am making every effort to get down Monday . If so I should be there by 8 . I probly will stop at jerrys in hollister for breakfast .
Stacy and I will be in my blk j*** yj with a hard top . I usualy run chanel 17 on th cb .

I'm gonna try and leave fremont around 6:30. Probably stop and check out breakfast at jerry's that Joe mentioned, so 8:30 - 9:00 sounds about right for eta at the park.

see you there between 8 and 8:30. I'll be in an orange Scout with a rust colored top that is wondering why the hell I didn't paint it at the same time as the rest of the truck.

thanks for the offer. One thing about a major holiday like today, that I forgot to mention in my reply, is that bart runs on a Sunday schedule, and didn't start running untill about 8 am this morning. :icon_rolleyes:

have fun all. Maybe next time I'll have my act together and actually have one of my own scouts drivable soon.
