Missing lead ball in V345?

Hello all, first time posting, i have a question that i could not research out. After rebuilding my V345 out of my 1973 grain truck i was going thru the IH parts book for my V345 and noticed part number 220 274 a lead ball. this is listed as a part of crankcase. I never saw one upon disassembly . My question is , has anybody else seen this ball when taking the V345 apart? where is it? what does it do?
The engine runs great without it, new engine completely rebuilt.

That part number you provided appears incomplete. IH part numbers typically include a letter like 'R' or 'C' followed by another digit or two.

My searching hasn't come up with anything so far. My WAGA (wild ass guess assumption) is that this part has something to do with an LP (propane) configured engine.

my parts book shows the propane version

Not a guess, but based on the fact that this P/N is part of the IHC SV-8 crankcase assembly (from one of my research sources),...
I bet it is the plug for the drilling for the #1 crank bearing, which is covered by the oil filter adaptor.
The next three drillings have 3/8 plugs in them and the aft one has the oil pressure sender in it.

would you recommend I remove the oil filter assembly and check this out? engine has 45 lbs oil pressure and 30 at idle. runs great, but dont want all my work to be for naught
