missing at low rpm

I have a 345,point ignition with a 2300 holly carb. Experiencing low rpm missing when the motor is lugging. Tends to clear at higher rpm 1200 and higher. Have replaced spark plugs, new wires and have switched out the carb. With another 2300 Holley and adjusted the points . Still the problem. Thanks dave

Make sure the ignition coil isn't bad. If you have a spare try swapping it to see if that might be the culprit.

Dave, how are the points and condenser? Newish? Did you set the dwell with a meter? How's your timing? If this problem continues to be a bugaboo for awhile, I'd be happy to drop in after work and put another pair of earballs on it.

Have you put a vacuum gauge on this engine? They can be quite revealing of problems. See other posts on this forum on the subject for details. Or tell us what you get.

I second the vacuum gauge. You May have a lean miss caused by a vacuum leak. I see that you replaced the carb with another, but there are other areas for a leak.

Checking the points for the third time noticed the the pivot on the points arm had to much movement. Replaced the points and problem solved. Thanks for the replies. Dave
