I've picked up a spare carb for my terra w/a 345 auto to have laying around. That being said I've tried to reference the list number on the carb and can't seem to find any list with all the list numbers? Is there a place a person can find the list info? I've looked in the Holley web site but no luck?

Anyway; here is the list number and if anybody knows were to look or knows the answer please help!

Holley: list 7773 a
480799 c-91
2588

thanks in advance for any help!!

I'm assuming this is a Holley 22xx model. The Holley corporation has gone through a lot of reorganization and changes over the years. The Holley corp that exists today bears little if any resemblance to that of yesteryear beyond the name. This particular carb model was a compromise developed during a very tumultuous time in us automotive industry...the early 1970's. It is a smog carb, pure and simple. Holley today is in the business of marketing and selling new performance carbs. They have no interest in providing knowledge and support for a 40 year old mixer that has paltry at best performance characteristics. There's no demand for them outside of small niche interest groups like this community, thus there is no profit margin here for Holley. Now that doesn't mean that you have no hope of finding info about this carb or support for refreshing it. It just means you ain't a-gonna git it by list number searches on the Holley website. That's barking up the wrong tree. Within this carb tech section, you will find a stickied thread towards the top titled something like "Holley 22xx guapo". I encourage you to spend some time digesting through the posts in that thread. Then spend some time on the interwebs googling and oogling topics like Holley 2210 and 2245...how to tune and refurbish etc etc.

oh, I've been reading here for years. I've read the 22xx site at least 20 times(all the way through not counting just quick looks). There is a lot of tech stuff missing in that thread and has a lot of high jacking. I've googled and ooogle til my eyes cross. This carb 2245 I believe has a lot extra stuff on it that's not covered? I have no problem rebuilding it but not sure about the extra solonoids. All of that said I am hoping to find exactly what I have so I know what these extra things are and not mess this carb up and save this 40 year old sh$t. I started a new thread because I was afraid this question would get lost and didn't want to fill the 22xx thread up with more crap. This carb was only on a 1977 Scout only is what I've been told? If we think about it I'm just trying to be green by saving something old. I've been flamed here so much I try not come here but hope things May have changed. I wouldn't have asked the question but I spent eight hours yesturday much less the other six years studying this stuff, but they say the only dum question is the one you don't ask so again does anybody know of where a person May find some old info on a old carb, pretty simple question?

I guess we have different ideas on what constitutes "flaming". My previous response to you certainly wasn't intended as such. I was just dropping some reality on you. I didn't want you to feel like you we're being ignored. It is a simple question on the face of it, but you're probably not going to get all the answers and information about this carb that you're seeking here.
In reviewing your previous posts on this forum, the only instance I saw that even remotely approached a "flaming" event was centered around a gold box distributor air gap discrepancy, which was quickly cleared up and life went on. Other than that, what I saw were a bunch of varied questions asked by you, followed by genuine offers of assistance and advice in every case by a number of other folks. That's what this forum is here for, and that's what happens on a daily basis around here. I'm sorry you don't see it that way, but I think your indignation is unwarranted.

you always been a great help! Maybe not so much flaming as read read read and I've read read read to I'm blue in the face. You sir have never flamed but only offered a helping hand and I thank you. It's got to get old people asking the same ol same ol! I must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed:icon_wink: I was just help to find a answer on the list so I could find a diagram of the carb I have so I could identify all the extra crap it has on it. My apologies sir!

Its cool. I don't think you will do much better than the carb info that has been provided in the factory service manuals. The information those contain is very extensive. Since this is a later carb, the manual that would most pertain to it is the '78-80 version, which is the dual volume and yes extra spendy one. I guess it all comes down to just how badly you really want to learn all you can about this carb. Keep in mind that list numbers for the 22xx series mixers are preceded with an 'r'. A quick web search unearthed the following link which you May have already come across. Scroll down until you see r7733 and click it.

The item with a protective boot and single, protruding wire is an anti-diesel solenoid. It controls the throttle opening at engine idle to prevent dieseling. Engine dieseling is a condition that causes the engine to continue running after the ignition switch is turned off. It is a particular problem with emission controlled vehicles due to higher operating temperatures, higher idle speeds, leaner fuel mixtures, and lower octane gasoline. The solenoid is energized when the ignition switch is turned on, causing the plunger to open the throttle to idle speed position. The plunger length is adjustable so that the idle speed can be adjusted. When the ignition switch is turned off, the solenoid is de-energized and the throttle closes tightly, cutting off the air*fuel mixture. This will keep the engine from dieseling.

The item underneath it is an anti-stall dashpot. Its intended function is to prevent the throttle plates from closing too quickly when accelerator pedal pressure is suddenly released, which can cause the engine to stall out in some cases, especially with automatic transmissions.

I don't know what the one at the rear of the carb is, as I don't have access to the '78-80 fsm.

The item on the passenger side of the carb is the vacuum operated choke pull-off diaphragm.

None of these items, (with the possible exception of the vac diaphragm on the rear of the carb) are unique to the 2245 version, and were commonly found on the 2210 models also. The location and orientation of the above items May differ slightly between models, but not the function.

All the above info was taken from a combination of referencing an IH factory service manual and brief web search.

Its always going to be a smog carb. That's what the 22xx series of mixers are. Removing those items won't change that, anymore than removing the stripes from a skunk makes it not a skunk. And provided they are still functional, I'm not sure why you would want to. They do serve a purpose, but I suppose folks have removed that stuff with no ill effects.
