Started looking for a baby Scout about 5 years ago, while looking a ran across a Scout 2 for a good price, so home it came and I spent the better part of 2 years fixing it up, but I still wanted a baby Scout and I finally found 1 that was in great shape so now I have 2 scouts.
The 69's rust was minimal with just a few pin holes in the floor and surface rust on the body, the motor was a 304 but the previous owner put a rebuilt 345 in it and than tore it down for paint and body work. As with most projects thats as far as he got before it was put into storage for years before he sold it to me.

The tranny was leaking so I thought it was the pan gasket, it wasn't, thought it was the modulator, it wasn't, so I put my glasses on and got a flashlight and discovered it was the shifter shaft seal, had to remove the valve body to get at it. Of course finding that seal was a challenge. Come to find out the bw11 trannny is the same as a Ford fmx and was able to get the part at napa, also the po had removed all the exhaust from the manifolds back and threw it away, it just so happens I had exhaust from the Scout 2 that I modified to fit. I also used band clamps on my exhaust in case I need to remove it

Started on the body work, which I'm not very good at, but I am persistent, welded up all the emblem and mirror holes, fixed some rust holes in the floor and started rubbing and sanding, I rubbed on that for so long my wife got jealous, while I was at it I replaced the body bushings

After sanding and sanding and sanding, we sprayed some high build primer and sanded some more and more and more. Finally we sealed it and sprayed 3 coats of base and 3 coats of clear. Have to wait a couple days so we can turn the hood upside down and paint the under side, the po was going to paint it green, so while he had the motor out he painted the engine compartment forest green, so at some point in time I'm going to black it out, but for now when you open the hood its going to be ugly.
The pictures are how it sits as of yesterday, the paint is pretty flat now, I cant wait to see it cut and buffed

Thanks, their was a lot more to this resto and a lot more to do, brakes need attention and it has a horrible hesitation which I think is the accelerator pump, I found a rebuild kit for the carb in all the parts I got with it, so I'm assuming the po rebuilt it.( the box had old parts in it) I pulled the fuel tanks and cleaned them, they looked good, and the compartments where rust fee which was amazing.
I need to find or build a roll bar for it and repaint the top. If you know of any roll bars for a 800 laying around let me know.

I entered my Scout 2 at the binderbee and won a peoples choice award for it. I bought it for $180 dollars a couple years ago, tore all the Scout running gear out of it and replaced it with wagoneer axles and springs, a cummins 4bt mated to a m5r2 Ford 5 speed and a 205 xfercase, after all that I never want to lay on a concrete floor all winter ever again.

Ok, putting it back together and I need a couple of things, I lost one of my window guides that goes between the wing window and the roll down window, and I need a front bumper and roll bar. Any help would be great.
