international loadstar 1600 carb problems

There are no secondaries on a 2bbl carb. Did you find the pv vacuum passage? With the idle screws on the back of the carb the pv passage May well be in a different location from a standard 4bbl carb.

Im stuck between two holes one passes all the way straight through the valve body the other goes into a passage. I think its the one that goes clear through because it is slightly smaller than the drill bit provided in the valve kit.

Rebuilt the carb installed the blow off valve and installed it on the engine. Screwed the mixture screws on the back of the carb all the way down then backed them off one turn and started trying to get the engine to start by slowly backing those screws and finally after some time adjusting the screws the engine fired and ran. Went to go start it this morning and nothing its backfiring and doesn't want to run any ideas? Checked the plugs and they are black and sooty. Also I hooked my spark plug tester up to it and for what ever reason sure doesn't seem to bright.

is there perhaps moisture under the dizzy cap?

Nope checked that distrib cap clean as a whistle. I checked the ohms on the coil and it tested 4 ohms between the plus and minus and 10.67 thousand between both the plus and minus to center of the primary. Is that in spec for that type of coil?

Is this still a points or electronic system? Sometimes a bad condenser can do what you describe. Don't know about the coil spec.

try a new condenser, when they fail the points will arc and the timing will be way off.

I ended up pull starting it yesterday and that done the trick to get it running it sounds ok when it finally gets running but wont idle for more than a few seconds and seems to stumble and loose power when you go to take off.

Been working through the wiring on the truck and have found and fixed a couple problems. The truck now turns over much better but still just sputters and wont quite start any idea what I can try?

Those are for a Holley curved points distributor.

Which distributor do you have? I do not see where this has been determined in this thread.

IH used several different dizzys over the years and any one of them could have been swapped into your truck over the last 40 years.
/ delco / Holley with straight points / Holley with curved points / prestolite / mallory aftermarket /

can you post some photos of your dizzy? Cap on with a wire pulled off, dizzy with cap off, dizzy with cap & rotor off. Etc.

Thank you.
