Intermittent Wiper Motor on a Rotten windshield frame SoutII

Anyone know anything about these wiper motors. I was able to get it to work by tapping on it through the gaping rust hole right above it but now even that is not working. I am guessing that this motor does not like the elements and there May be some corrosion inside the motor.

One clue is that the beat stick (a long 1/2 inch drive extension) was sparking against the frame when the motor was on. I am thinking bad ground. Just wondering if anyone else has faced this and fixed it successfully. This is the 3rd motor.

Sounds like the ground to me, you could run a ground wire from the wiper motor to a good ground, or try to repair the ground for the cowling/windshield frame.

Yawl ain't overjoid with the opyrashun uh yer hillbillly deelay wipers rusty? Sum peepul's jes dam hard tuh pleez, I guess! The ground for the wiper motor is incorporated into the mounting location. The next junction to pull apart and check is the 3-prong plastic plug under the hood. Make sure those contacts are shiny. Then separate the bulkhead connector on the driver's side and service those contacts. The wiper switch itself May also require some luv.

I've got a similar issue with a rebuild I'm working on. Is the wiper motor grounded through the windshield frame? If so I'm going to have to run a ground wire as it's got a fiberglass body.

Bummer, I saw this thread title and thought intermittent wipers were an option on scouts. That is about the only "modern" convenience I miss on the old girl.
