IH Truck Interchangeably

I have a 1974 d100 step side pickup and would like to know what years have interchangeably with body parts including, grill and glass.

Any input would be appreciated.

Dave

The d-series encompasses model years '69-'75. The door glass, windshields and rear windows are the same. Cargo boxes, doors, inner/outer fenders, and cabs are all dimensionally identical, however there May be some differences in cab mounting hole locations between pre and post '74. There are some differences in fuel fill locations amongst the various models. Some are fender fill on either side and some are cab fill. The '69-'73 hoods are the same, while '74-'75 hoods are shaped differently. The '69, '70 and '71 grilles were unique each year. '72-'73 grilles are the same, as are the '74-'75 grilles.

Trever,

am I correct in assuming that t-all sheet metal and glass are also interchangeable by the same criteria you stated for the trucks?

Are the dash pads unique to the '74 model year?

Thanks,

dave

The rear passenger doors and glass for the t-alls, wagonmasters, and t-ettes are all the same. The rear cargo side glass is of course t-all only. '69-'73 dashpads are the same. I can't say with certainty about the '74/75 pads. The instrument panels are essentially the same, but the identification bezels changed at some point. Also, the ignition switch was in the dash until '74 when it was relocated to the steering column. The power train is set back several inches in the '74/75's which accounts for numerous differences such as automatic shifter linkages and exhaust manifolds just to name a couple.

Thanks trever,

I did a poor job in the previous question. I meant to ask if the t-all parts were interchangeable with d100 pickups. I understand doors and windshield is... Depending on year... Not sure about grills, bumpers, etc.

Learning a lot... Can expand my bone picking horizons and get the step side done!

Thanks,

dave

Yeah dave, year changes apply in the same manner across the models. Rear bumpers are often different, with step bumpers more common amongst the pickups and chrome jobs more common amongst the t/a's and waggies. T/a's could come with either barn doors or narrow tailgates with power up/down glass.
