Ignorant International Junkie

Hey guys! I need help. I really need a truck and being that I have 5 International scouts in various stages of repair or parts only, I thought my find was find was a perfect truck for me to grab up. However, I was wrong. I bought a 1972 1100 2wd truck with a 304 and a 4 spd. It is in immaculate condition! It was a delivery truck for a local building supply company. It only has 47,000 actual miles. It has no rust, the interior is perfect and it purrs like a kitten. There is a small dent in drivers door that I put in it loading it onto trailer. Here is the problem. It does not have a rear end. The guy I got it from, who got it from the building supply store tore it out after he got it. He took it out to replace it but after a while gave up and sold it to me. I thought heck yea, I can put front and rears out of one of my scouts under it with t-case and have 4-wheel drive truck. Well, that wont work. They are to narrow. So what to do? I have very little money to use now and have to use what I have or forget it for now. What I have is a 1988 f-250 4x4 with 302 and 5 spd. Engine is bad and frame is rusted bad, but axles are good. Can I swap them into my International? Also could I use the 5 spd? If I could use the axels that would be great, if I could use axels and 5 spd that would be awesome! Please help the ignorant!, but not stupid. Thanks in advance!

Anything can be done withenough money and fab skills

the rear May work, the tranny no chance unless you can get an adapter plate. The front axle possible but at a high cost if your IH has independent suspension then perhaps assuming your Ford is independent front suspension. But again lots of fab work and I am sure dollars

people have put Chevy axles under (front and rear) to convert to disc brakes. Why not take your truck to the junkyard and work out a trade?

Try to work out a trade with someone else in your area who May have both scouts and full size rigs. here is a rig in ferguson You might work out a trade for one of your parts scouts assuming it still has the rear end. That's assuming he hasn't already scrapped it.

Pull the Ford rear axle and swap it in. It will match the wheel bolt pattern of the front and not be too much wider than the front. You will need to weld on spring perches at the right location and adapt the brake line fittings - but that should be about it. Do not mess with the front 2wd axle if you want to get the project on the road any time this year.... It will be a money pit and time consuming.
