How to Use WinALDL in Windows 10

I used ChatGPT to solve a programming problem with FedEx labels. While the code didn't work, I learned enough to figure how to make it work. The support at FedEx were amazed.

@FDChappie while trying wine was a great idea, it has limited support for accessing USB devices (e.g. a serial to USB adapter). I wrestled with it for a while but kept getting the error in the screenshot I attached. I'm going to try a winxp vm next and hopefully it has better luck accessing devices attached to the host than wine did.

Go into the settings and you can change the COM port. I believe it goes up to 12 or 13, I do not remember.

I have my old ass Dell laptop here that I used to use for logging data. I have since upgraded it to my newer unit. I would be willing to let you borrow it. It has WINALDL already on it.

When I got it all from Bill Hamilton, he states you have to stop and prevent it from updating the drivers for the USB.

Everytime I tried to run the program on windows 10 I had to delete the drivers and reinstall them and stop them from updating.

The program performs better on professional versions of Windows compared to the home use versions. I installed it on my business-grade Lenovo laptop, and it worked immediately, including when connected to the internet.
