Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm in the midst of my first teardown of an IH engine (sv345)....I just removed the lifter valley cover and there are holes in the valley that look...wrong. There is a round-ish hole between the lifters for 5&6, another bigger one in between 7&8, and another in the front wall of the valley by #2. I wouldn't be worried except that the holes look like they were added to the block casting with a claw hammer, and it feels strange to be able to see that much of the cam from up above. Is this a problem, or just another unique 'feature' of an IH engine.
Thanks in advance.
