Help with Tail Lights

I just got my service manual in the mail yesterday looked threw it and it dosent have the diagram im needing for the tail lights. I have power it my light switch but no power in the wires at the firewall. Im tracing them back, it appears they run up inside the steering colum? And any help with the brake light switch "full time power running to it???????? Thank you for your replies.
 
Would help to know what rig you're working on. I can't imagine any new service manual not containing all the wiring diagrams. I've never heard of that. These manuals are arranged a little oddly and sometimes it takes some digging to find what you're looking for.
 
Shoot sorry!! Man I'm a retard! 1957 s110 pickup. I have been threw it page by page and cant find it. I find one for the head lights but nothing on the tail/ brake lights. Really hoping to get them working soon so I can get out on the road and turn some heads
 
I'm not too familiar with IH trucks of this vintage. I was under the impression that the s-series ended with model year '56 and the a-series began in '57. I'm wondering if your truck May have been titled in the year it was sold rather than the year it was manufactured, as was the common practice in those days. At any rate, I have cts 2000 in pdf form which covers '57-63 a,b,c series trucks. I know there was a body style change between the s and the a, but I can't imagine the electrical system differed much between the two. I see circuits 21 (black) and 22 (black w/stripe) identified as the tail and stop light circuits respectively. They both originate at the light switch. 22 is a constant hot wire that connects to one side of the brake light switch. A wire from the other side of the bls travels back to the combo brake/tail assembly. I take it these trucks did not have directionals. That should make it very easy to correct the issue you're having.
 
Hey first of all thank you for your quick reply!!!! I have taken some pictures of this pickup so maybe we can verfi what year it even is. I'm wondering if it has been rewiring at some point because all the wires that run threw the firewall are yellow. Witch are connected to white braided wires that run up the steering collum and I have other white ones running back out. I see one that must be full time hot, it running from the key switch to the flasher with an in line fuse after the flasher it runs up the steering collum. I hope this is of some help to you. Fyi, the 's' series continued into the 1957 model year until the 'a' series came out.
It will be the same as the 1956 model year 's' series trucks.
 
Cool truck. I wouldn't feel comfortable even hazarding a guess as to what is or isn't original wiring-wise on your truck. A Scout II, or d-series pick-all is a different story. Having the turn signals involved complicates matters somewhat, but it still isn't rocket science. On later vehicles, the power feed for the brake wire does have to pass through the turn signal switch, as that switch in combination with the flasher fuse functions as an intermittent current interrupter for one brake light or the other when selected. I imagine the same is true with your truck.
 
Ok thank you. Im pretty sure I can trace them all back to the switch somehow. I was trying to see if I could pull the steering wheel, horn button? Is it just a pop out type. I dont want to get in there and start prying on it and brake something. I hope im not being to big of a pain in the a$$ on here. Like I said this is my forst restore project and iwant to do it right. And not coblw some junk together and call it good. It would not do justice to this old pickup.
 
One more quick question.... Trying to pull the headlight switch out of the dash for easier acess pulling the knob off itself. Small pin hole in bottom is that to point at witch to realse the knob so it will slid threw after I unscrew the retainer collar?
 
Your service manual should detail procedures for steering wheel and hls removal. Generally, a pulling apparatus is required for the wheel. Like I've previously stated, my bailiwick lies with the '70's era scouts and pick-alls. I can't be of much help to you with specifics on your ride.
