Fuel Gauge Question

Sorry if its in the wrong thread so please move accordingly.


I have the 67 1200B IH pickup that comes with dual tanks. I am curious if the gauge averages both tanks, or is it is supposed to be accurate to each tank when selected? I filed on the right side, and the gauge needle doesn't go to full. Is this an issue with my sending unit?

It should be single monitor controlled by a dash mounted toggle to switch back and forth. Gauge sender is a likely suspect when one side reads correctly when the other doesn't.

You are referring to the sending unit right? If so they seem to only have ones from 69 and up, not my 67 year.

A tank that doesn't read full could be a few things. Electrical connections might be loose or have some corrosion. The float could be heavy from a pin hole leak or maybe the arm is catching on something. Try the simple things first.
