front swaybar

72 with 304 727 auto mostly stock .... So I notice when I drive that if I wiggle the steering wheel the front end rolls and sways a bit is this a lack of front swaybar, bad shocks, or something worse? When I bought it I did get a swaybar but it isnt a aftermarket looking one maybe a stock one but I believe its for the rear? Does anyone have pics of a stock front swaybar installed and its mounting points for reference? Thanks

Ah, a 72 what? Scout, pickup or ta? The stock sway bar on a Scout II looks like a flat piece of spring steel about 2.5"x30" by about .25" thick.

So here is what I have, I got it all from the previous knucklehead...

That is definitely not a stock anti-sway bar for a Scout. On a Scout the anti-sway bar is bolted between the front spring shackles. It's just a flat bar with 4 1/2" holes in it for mounting. Your 72 if it has the stock shackles May not have come with a sway bar as I recall that they were added during that model year.

Heres the front s 11 sway bar-not the best pic.Jeff

Oh no way that's all the front stock sway bar is!!?? I do have that already, I thought it was to keep the shackles from twisting about? So since I have that cheesy sway-thingy and I'm loose in the front end that means something else is outa whack or is that how scouts handle in stock form? Ugh.....

So I have noticed that there are brackets attached to the rear leaf springs that have provisions for what I'm guessing are for the sway bar links, for the rear swaybar that I have. Is it necessary or is the stock swaybar even worth installing on the rear?thanks

I've never seen an sii with a stock rear sway bar. Not to say 100% they don't exist, but I'm in the high 90's. I believe that piece you have has already been properly identified as belonging to a f/s pick-all.
