Following Jeff's lead on a new place

As many of you know my family has been going through some very hard times this last 2 years. Well a little sunshine finally broke through the clouds this week. On nov 7th, I will be the proud owner of a home again. It needs allot of work as it is a foreclosure (which is the only thing I can afford) but the potential is outstanding. It is 12 totally usable acres with a 4bd 3bath home on it. No shop at this point but it does have a large rv pole barn that will be converted to the shop once my father builds a new one for his rv.

Most of you know that my wife is terminally ill, my parents being the amazing and giving people that they are decided to put their retirement travels on hold for the most part and help me raise my boys. They are also helping me buy this place without them and their help there is no way I could afford to do this. I can not tell you what a blessing it is to have parents that are willing to do this type of thing.

The property itself is really fantastic, again it has been neglected for a couple of years but there is potential to do just about anything I want there. It is more acreage that I need but like Jeff’s Dad abe told me “they aren’t making land anymore buy as much as you can!” sound advice if you ask me. I am the smallest lot in the area, most of the others are between 17 and 25 acres so there are no neighbors very close and only 2 houses farther down the road. I am really excited about it and looking forward to having a place to call my own again. Here are a couple of pictures. Please look past the current to what it could be with a little love and attention. The one down side is that this will almost certainly put the Scout on hold for a year or so until I get the shop built but the long term pay off is completely worth it.

Scruu the Scout...it'sa project not life!

Hope it's commute distance to Jeff and norma's new digs. We can't wait to make a visit next week!

Now I know where I'll be stayin' mucho come springtime...between the two a ya kids, I'll be packin' nail guns and saws...scruu the carb shop!

I know the boys and shannon are thrilled too knowing yawl will always be movin' forward! And abe knows dirt...before ya know it, that place will be full of abetrees!

Way to go! Congratulations! Chad I am really happy for you and your family, with what you've been going through, you really deserve it. Where abouts is it? Screw potential the land alone is a great investment. If you need any help don't hesitate to ask...recently did my entire house in lamenant flooring and redid both bathroom showers with tile, so kinda know what I'm doing :winky:

Yep, real nice and flat. Already picked out the location for the pond for the fishin and the rock pile for the wheelin.

Thanks Mike, there is rv hook up ready and waiting for you anytime you want it!! My door is always open. It is more than I could have hoped for really. It is actually not a bad commute to Jeff's, about 20 minutes which is closer than I would have been staying in Loomis to his place in gv

Chad,
what a great place and what better time for the kids than 12 acres to run around and explore. I can see lots of bbq's on that back deck as well. Congrats!!

Thanks paul, yeah the boys are way excited, they are of course a little nervous to start in a new school and all of that but as with me the pay off is worth it and they know it. There is one drawback to the place. It is a 50 mile commute each way for me to work. Once we close and move in up there I am going to work with my boss and try to work a couple of days a week from home which would cut down my driving a lot. Plus keep me at home to be with shannon as much as possible.

Hope as always you are staying safe!!

I found one of the other pictures I wanted to show you guys. I absolutely love this tree. I had my boys stand at the base of it for perspective. I am going to trim some of the dead out of it and put a rope swing in it for the kiddos

And this is the view out of the kitchen window. Doesn't really do it justice but you get the idea.

After we close I think I will keep a record of the progress on the house and land, maybe start a house build thread???

Great score Chad! Ain't nuthin' like bein' out in the middle of nowhere! Sorry I missed getting to meet you and Jeff at nationals this year. I just ran out of time. Next year if I get to go I'll be staying at least one night so I'll have enough time to do all I want and meet everyone I want to meet. Hope you guys get to go next year. Take care brother.
