I have a 75 Scout II. I replaced the 345 with a newer 345 out of a 81 school bus. The previous owner had put a push button start in it when the gold box went bad and rewired the whole thing. The distributor in the bus motor has three wires. Red,white, and brown. Red and brown were connected to the coil. The white went to wiring harness on bus. How can I make this work on my Scout? Please help if you can. I will try to post a pic of it

Welcome to the forum. Makes no sense to me why the po would have bypassed the column ignition switch with a push button just because the gold box died. Seems like throwing out the baby with the bath water. But anyway, it sounds like the distributor in the donor engine is a prestolite most likely without breaker points (electronic). A distributor cap with male terminals for the wires is another indicator. The white wire is for emissions crap and can be disregarded. Red goes to coil +. Brown goes to coil neg. Then you need a wire that originates from the ignition switch and supplies current to the coil during starter cranking and when the switch is in the on position. It terminates at the coil + terminal. That should get you going.

I do appreciate your time. I have some trouble shooting to do but I did get it to fire. It seems that I have other issues. Lol. Starter solenoid is bad. It will take another paycheck but ill get it going. I May need more advice later though. Im used to building fords and have always liked scouts so I went and bought two of them. A 69 800a and this 75 Scout II. I have plenty to learn with. My wife and I would like to restore both of them
