Engine Swap

I have had two scouts and both with stock 304/345. Both I ended up rebuilding the engines. Both I found to be expensive and problematic. I am presently building another Scout. It has a 304 with a auto 727. The 304 is tired and needs a rebuild. My question is.... Since the trans is a dodge torqueflight 727. Would a dodge 360 bolt onto the trans without having to adapt it.

But wait, get a dodge 727 trans and change out the tail housing from the IH so it will bolt up to the transfer case and your ready to go. This is what I did to put a 318 dodge in my '73.

This requires more than a housing swap. The output shaft must be swapped as well, which means both transmissions must be completely torn down in order to properly cross-mojinate all the necessary parts.

Unless it had a d300 tcase, which will bolt to a dodge 727 4x4 version that had a new process 208 or 242. Jeep also used the 727 with their 360s and amc pattern.
