engine "bucking"

Hi all. My 74 200 has started to "buck" while driving. (not sure how else to describe it). It seems to do it in the middle of the gear and if I acelerate I can power through it only to have it happen again as I move up or down in gears. The fuel filter is fairly new but it has me wondering if perhaps it is a bad one.

Any help or thoughts would be great.

Hmmmmmmmm.
Bucking to me is like a horse trying to through it's rider... Not sure other than that what exactly you are trying to describe.

Does it seem to lose power and slow then pick up again.

Is it a random series of stumbles like a stutterer then it smooth's out?

Hi Robert. Sorry for the very un-technical description:icon_lol: but it does seem to lose power and if I step on the gas or do just the opposite and let up on the gas it seems to get better. It seems to do it more at the lower end of each gear with the exception of 1st where it hasn't happened at all.

It's all good..
I was having fun with ya...

my thought is that you have a fuel problem. To be more exact a lean/ lack of fuel issue.

So what is your exact engine setup? Eg engine size, carburetor type and barrel count and transmission.

It could simply be an air leak or accelerator pump problem.
