dumb tf 7272 ?

I will try some of the advice posted here with the kickdown cable, not sure waht wot stands for, but I will check that out and let you know.
 
Wot = hammer down dude! As in mash it man! Wide open throttle. Just because you can put the pedal to the metal does not necessarily mean that the throttle linkage on the carb is being opened all the way. This is what mm was alluding to. Have a helper mash the pedal with the engine off while you watch the throttle linkage. Then grab hold of the linkage to see if you can open it any further by hand. If you can, that indicates a problem somewhere in your accelerator linkage.
