DEPLOYMENT BUILD UP

Thanks chico. I have a soft top being made. The rims where supposed to be temporary, but I like the looks of them so I need to take them off this winter and sandblast them and powder coat them bright white to match the bumppers. I also have all of the stickers to put on the dash. Of course I need to get the doors finished and put on all of the rubber seals and what not, but they aren't painted yet.

It has been nice to have a radio to listen to at stop lights, but I only get two channels and it seems like the only thing on is a comercial for dog food that can cure cancer. I need to get a converter so I can get some fm. I guess thats what all of the cool kids listen to thiese days.
 
I dont have a radio in mine yet. But my Scout is just a weekend warrior for starbucks in the morning for the wife. The po ripped the radio and speakers out and I just havent got around to that part yet. Working on other po crap!
 
Well, here is some shocking news! The word on the street is that my painter has not been to work in over a month and has not been paying his rent. My freind rob who works in the shop next door called to let me know so I could get my parts out before he splits and goes out of business.

I have had really bad luck with paint and sandblasting this go around and I have used them both before. I guess you can't cant count on the past. The only good news is that other then buying gallons of paint (that many of the motorcycles in town seem to be painted these days) I haven't paid him anything.

I have been dealing with a strange fuel issue. Just about the time that the truck warms up and I get the chock in all the way it acts like its fuel starved and starts to back fire from the carb and tail pipe. If I shut it down and restart it it runs fine. The carb was rebuilt when I bought the truck, but it did sit in a box and dry out for a year while I was gone. I have been too lazy to pul it off and rebuild it, but I guess I should start there.

I got a bit burned out trying to get every thing done so my son and I could get to the beach, and now that he is back home with his Mom, I have lost some motivation.

Maybe in the spring...
 
Well... The painter is back in bizz and the truck is up there for color sanding and to get thte doors painted.

I bought a new building to keep her in so she wont get all crappy after spending all of this money on her! I will try to post some pictures when it comes in.
 
Sheesh doc. You're your own soap opera. No more of this up and down crap.

Had me worried...burned out? Are you kidding me. With as beautiful as its looking and you get burned out? I almost came over there to repo the damn thing and give it some lovin and affection. Sheesh. Cant believe you keep us in suspense like this.

I want that solar pastel satelite up and running so you can head down to the beach and waste a day...or 7

I had a hard time keeping it covered this summer and it didn't stay as clean as I would have liked, hence the new shed. Getting the shed and getting the doors painted have rekindled my fire to finish it up.

I went back and forth with what to do about the fender bolts. I couldn't decide if I wanted to try to paint them on the truck or off and then worry about chipping them all up. I finially decided on stainless. I know it isn't stock but will stand the beach better and will match the other stainless that I have used. I found hardware with the same shoulder, just not the IH stamped on the head. I doubt it will get me laughed off the road... That's what the paint color is for!:cornut:

there was also some drama concerning a white soft top for it, but with out a propper indoor storage spot for it, I didn't get my knickers in a twist about it until yesterday, but all is worked out and I should have it soon. I had some credit with another IH place for a junk order I returned before switching to IHPA. Just a reminder why I stick with Jeff and the boys!:icon_up:

with the bigger tires she is alot more road worthy so I am looking forward to driving it to base as soon as I get her buttoned up! I will get some more pics up as soon as some work gets done on her...
 
So I tlked to the painter since my truck has been over there since November to see if he had any plans of doing my work. He told me he would have the doors done on Friday. Tha is about the sixth time he has said that. I went over the following tusday to pick up my doors (sure, like they would be done) and found my truck sitting out in the rain. I almost lost it. Good thing he wasn't there or I May have said or done somthing I would regret.

Robert's shop is next door and he put her up for me in his shop. At this point it is so late in the game to take it to another painter, and I don't want to buy more paint, but I am running out of ideas. At the start of this project the guy and I where friends but I would say that the relationship is a bit strained!

For you that have been following along, this project started in the spring of 2012! Two years of it will be done on Friday is getting old!

Any thoughts?
 
I'd confront the guy in the nicest/stern way possible. If that doesn't work then take your truck back. Seems like quite a few people have problems with painters.
 
You need a hug doc? Some dinobyte? Maybe some new guns? If you want I'll send you some good beef jerky.

Lets face it. We've all been here. Only way to survive this point is to keep your cool. Repo your Scout if its non fixable. I hate seeing people get screwed. Really kills your entheusiasim for fixing your rig up. All you can do is keep a level head I guess. And if you need some muscle just give me a call. We'll bust some heads
 
Sorry for your encounter with what sounds like a grade a douchenozzle. I hope you decide to regroup and move forward without any further assistance from that asshat.
 
Thanks bro! I just needed someone else to tell me to hang in there and not just take the truck some-place else.

I really want to have it done in time to take to the dixie regionals in April, but I'm running out of time. If he isn't done I wil drive it there the way it is.

It would be nice to post some pictures of something getting done instead of whinning about nothing! :icon_stressed:

It is still on the plate as an option, but at this point it would cost soooo much more money and I'm sooo close to being done. I have talked to a couple of other painters, but they really don't want to take over someone elses mess.

In the mean time I took ihrunners advice and have been working on a gun. I had an old cva cap lock that blew the drum and lock plate out years ago that has been collecting dust.

I need to keep Robert busy while we wait on the ''asshat" so we turned out a bolt to plug the re-threaded hole to make a touch hole liner of sorts and I ordered a new flintlock lock plate for it. It should be here on Thursday and once I lay it in we can drill the touck hole and make smoke!

Robert is also going to help me lower the filler neck on one of the gas tanks to see if we make it so I can fill it from the pump at the gas station. Putting fuel in from a can really cuts in to the driveability of these old 80's...
 
Smart man doc. I just got an xd45 and its like any other gun I own. Goes bang and makes me smile. I find after a day at one of the two family ranges im a much more sociable person and I react better to situations. Simple fact. Field stripping a tool like a gun and cleaning it and putting it back together helps men find their inner peace. Its good just to relax before you haul off and pop the sumbitch in the face. An angry man rarely gets the best outcome. He May get an acceptable outcome. But not the best. Just hang in there...and if he continues to be a "grade a douchenozzle" thank you trevor; then call me and ill film you hauling off and smacking the sumbitch.
 
While I don't share your joy of field stripping and cleaning a weapon (having to do it for a living and all)I am looking forward to shooting my fav rifle again. Back in the day I used to shoot woodswalks and other period type blackpowder shoots and this gun and I have been through alot together... Maybe not as much as my m4, but I like the peace of shooting a front stuffer!

I stopped by the shop after work yesterday to check on the truck but the painter wasn't there. One of his friends was there and told me that a local bodyshop and called him and asked him to work for them. I sent him a text and asked if he would have time to work on my tuck or if I should make other plans. So it wouldn't sound like an ultimatum I also offered to take the small stuff to another shop if he thought that would help.

He responded that he would get it done next week (right!) and thanks for understanding. We will see. I can't wait to tell him that I will pay him by Friday!

While I was there I picked up my stock rims and took them home. As soon as I get the bill for the new lock plate for my smoke pole I will order a set of super traxion sta's for them and swap out with the wagon wheels on the truck now so I can powder coat them. I think I will wear the stock rims and sta's to the dixie in April.

Got a text from the painter today, he says he is painting everything today and would like to get paid. Funny how that works... He has my truck for 2 years and after one day of work he wants money. We will see...:lol:
 
Omg! The paint is done!!! I got a text from the painter and said he finished everything and wants a check today.

One of my co-workers says I should date the check for two years ago and write void across it. Sounds like a good idea, but no one at the bank would notice and they would cash it anyway. Its hard to get good help these days.:hand:

I'm just looking forward to being done with it. Someone once told me that long after the satisfaction of a good deal is gone you will still have the dissatisfaction of a bad experiance. My advice to anyone getting work done on their project is to not hire friends and don't be suckered by a promise of a low price. Not always the best value.

I have to get the doors put together and hung and put on wheather stripping, and detail everything again. The seats cracked and are coming apart from sitting outside all winter.

Hope to get it all done for the dixie regionals in April!!!:icon_up:
 
Me too. I'm tired of all type and whine. Can't wait to get up some new shots!

First thing I am going to do is move the fuel filler neck down on the tank so I can pump gas at the station. Filling it up from a can is gettting old! The old pumps must have been a lot slower, or everyone just filled them from the gravity tank on the farm like we did when I was a kid.:out:
 
I spent the weekend putting doors together and taking pictures, but I am having trouble getting them to load. The inter web has been screwy since the ice storm.

I just ordered the sta super traxion tires for my stock rims. I hope to have them mounted and on the truck for the dixie regionals.

I did a few other projects, but will wait until I have the photos off of the camera and uploaed before I bring them up.:mad2:
