I am planning on swapping my Dana 20 to a Dana 300 next weekend... I finally have a weekend off, with no tests the following week!!

Will the existing speedo cable be long enough to reroute to the passenger side?

Fill the tc with 50wt oil correct?

Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Joe

p.s. Sorry if this was answered somewhere else, I didn't find it in my search.

Actually the speedo cable for either a Dana 20 or 300 is the same. The cable is routed differently depending on application. Since the nut on the big end of the speedo cable at the transfer case is to big to fit thru the hole in the body you will need to disconnect it from the speedometer and remove it completely. Reroute the cable so that when it comes out of the firewall it is pointed inboard towards the top of the transmission. From there the rest should be self-explanatory.

Ok so I pulled the speedo cable and the big end fell off, so I will be ordering a new one, my question is my cable is split, there is a length of cable that goes from the speedo to this fuel filter looking thing with some wires coming out then another length of cable to the transfer case. The cable on the IH Parts America website doesn't have that fuel filter thing and is much longer then my long section of cable. So my question, do I need the "fuel filter" or will the new cable replace all it. Thanks Joe

The filter looking thing is a deceleration module. It was part of the original emissions control system. It is unnecessary and can be "optimized" in whichever way you choose.
