Changing Dash Lights

Hi, I am changing the dash lights on my 1977 Scout II. I removed the gage cover and had no problem unscrewing the temp/volt and fuel/oil pressure gages and replacing bulbs. I am however having a heck of a time getting the speedometer to come out far enough to replace the bulbs for the speedometer and the turn signal indicators. Any tips on getting the speedometer unit to come out of the dash?

The speedo cable must be unscrewed from the back of the speedo head. Once that is accomplished, some persistent twisting of the head up and down May be required to get it to pop out. Its a fairly tight fit.
