Brake lights on a round body T-all

Hi all,

my '65 d1200 4x4 t-all brake lights are not working correctly.

For some reason I am not getting one of my brake lights to light.

The turn signal and tail light works on both sides but the brake light works on only one side. So I would assume that the ground and the bulb are okay.

The same symptom shows up as on the trailer when the trailer is hooked up--turn signal and tail lights work on both sides but the brake light on only one side.

The brake light switch was replaced recently and seems to be working well enough to light one light and the trailer brake controller.

Any idea as to where I need to start looking?

Thanks.

I bet your 4-way flashers don't activate that light either. Its your turn signal switch in the steering column. Pull the wheel to expose the guts for a peek-see at the switch contacts. Dollars to donuts they will look like el chupacabre has defecated on them, in which case you can shine things up and be good to go. Worse case scenario is the switch itself May be broken and have to be replaced.

Since I don't have 4-way flashers I can't test them.

I was thinking that the problem was most likely in the column.

I do hate taking steering wheels off.

Well if it did have 4-ways...ahh my unfamiliarity with the older models comes through. Anyway, the ts switch is the only possibility. The fact that your signal and tail light works on that side rules out the wiring, connectors, bulbs, and light housing grounds as possible culprits.
