Back Fire right at switch over temp

Give me the specs on your engine and trans.

Can you look at the top of the injector with the connector removed and see if there are numbers.
Looking for a 5203, 5279 or 5206 rpd.
Or afi sometimes writes on the top what engine they're from.

345 IH engine, rpt 4 barrel intake (from ihon), stans tri-y headers, exhaust is from collectors to a two 2 1/2" input 3" single out muffler. 185 degree thermostat, have a/c and is connected to ecu.

727 automatic transmission, 3.54 gears, 31 x 10.50 15" wheels.

I will send you the TBI numbers when I get home.

Any other information you need just ask.

Well, no numbers or other afi information on the injectors or TBI.

Have plenty from the ecu.

Afi chip file # 3455105 7/12/11
engine computer number 7-7747
dc code 0411mt

if you want I could remove the chip and send it to you. Or try to copy the bin file at work......

This is what and where the numbers look like.

Yep, right area.....where those numbers are in your picture I have a smooth finish with nothing.

Bill, without a way to know the flow rate of these injectors what is the next step?

Jeff and bill, thank you for the help on this issue....you guys are not to blame for afi's problems (and I can see why bill is now supplying the fuel injection kits).

I have frustration :yikes: setting in due to afi

lack of customer service (thanks for leaving me on my own to fix this). Never return calls, make me call you until you actually answer the phone. (once again thank you bill and Jeff for the help).

Instructions that are wrong for the IH engines (matter of fact your instructions are the same for all of your kits), took many calls during the installation just to get it to start (love the timing instruction to disconnect a wire by the distributor but is actually near the spark control).

Using what is now apparently a sub-standard injector. Probably a cheap knock-off from a off shore country.

Rant-over.................

It's always frustrating when your learning new things.
Like a fish out of water.

I can't answer for afi but hopefully I can do a little better job for the community.
I guess since I have been providing free support on many IH forums and even customer support for those purchasing afi kits from Jeff, so I have been doing it for a while.

The new bin file for the chip is already sent to Jeff so he will burn it to a chip and send it out to you.

If the injectors are not 5.7's then you will just have to log data and we will have to burn another chip.

We'll just have to cross that bridge when we get to it.

The key to running right is making sure there are no vacuum or exhaust leaks and the fuel pressure is correct.

I had the header leak, its fixed. No other signs of an exhaust leak any where else.

Propane tested all the areas a vacuum leak May occur and have not found any (going to vacuum pump the brake booster to see if it leaks this weekend, only place I can think of that May have an issue).

You can see my gauge in my injector picture....so that's good.

Fingers crossed, but I think it will be good.

Bill, what a difference. Runs way better than it ever did.

Attached are the latest datalog files, unless you see something bad in them my guess is it is a near to perfect as could be.

Let me know what you think.

Would you like me to send you the afi chip, I am curious to know what the difference is.

Once again thank you for the help

Looks like I did to good a job.
You will need to recheck it in the summer. Some areas could use a little tweak but not bad.
If you hear any pinging just bump the timing down a couple degrees.

Please send the old chip back.
I need them for the next guy.

Lots of difference in the program. All different fuel and timing tables.
It's my own thing!

Chip is in the mail. Drove around some more and I am still amazed at the difference in the two chips. You are a master of your craft.
