Anyone ever seen a carb like this

On my 1962 80 with a 152 the carb is mounted this way?

My best guess based solely on that photo is that the original Holley 1904 carb is long gone and has been replaced with a Holley 1920 carb which has a wider bolt pattern thus requiring an adaptor such as you see on your 152 IH 4 banger cornbinder powerplant.

That carb looks remarkably clean compared to the rest of the engine. I think scott is probably right. Check the list number. If it says 1920, then you'll have your answer.
 
That's definitely not a 1920. You can see the iron throttle body underneath. It sure looks to be a 1904. No idea why it's side ways. It seems to clear everything without the spacer.
 
Defnitley a 1904. There are two bore sizes availible with the respective bolt spacing. Need to measure the upper and lower spacing and see if they are the same. The manifold should be the smaller of the two. The po May have had another reason to do the flip.
