Antenna anyone?

Feel like a numbskull asking a stupid question, but what the heck...purchased a correct oem antenna for my 65 D1100. Is there a certain way to mount it? I've tried several different times to mount it to the antenna hole by the cowl on the passenger side but no effect. Thanks...befuddled in Iowa

Without seeing the exact thing you're dealing with, I'll be spitballing. Usually antennas must be taken apart so that the base portion is separated from the topside antenna portion. Then the base portion gets inserted up from under the dash and held in place by a helper while you reaffix the topside portions back to the base portion that is protruding up through the hole. Somehow or another, there has to be part of it that gets inserted up from the bottom and then the remainder is remarried to that bottom jobby from above. So look at what you have with that ever so basic and generic idea in mind.
