I am currently wiring the alternator in my '67 800. As I understand the various posts covering this topic, the white wire coming out of the little plug in the alternator goes to a "switchable 12 v. Source". Several things I have read say that it can go to the "I" terminal on the ignition switch. The posts also say that this wire should have some resistance. One suggestion is a small light bulb. Another suggestion is a diode, which would have the additional advantage of preventing engine run-on. Here is my question, if I use a diode in the wire, it will make the wire "one-way". So, which way do I want the current to be able to flow: from The alternator or to The alternator? As I understand it, that will be determinted by the orientation of the diode. I have tested the diode for continuity, and I know which way the current will pass through it; so the last piece of the puzzle is as mentioned above: which way do I want the current to be able to flow? Thanks in advance, pineneedle
