A New Beginning!

Drew is 100% correct. Although, the travelette was one of the first internationals that I laid my eyes on, as it originated from an alsea logging family. I couldn't convince Dad to buy it and turn it into a family hauler, then a few years later, the roth's bought it, and then I ended up buying it from ken...:icon_rotate: small world. The orange pu I got from a guy in willamina that monte tipped IHSTO on a year ago. You can't beat free! I have robbed parts from it and got it running/driving, but I didn't have enough time for all these, so it is getting stored in a barn for the time being. Have been packing since noon.....:icon_rolleyes: I swapped distributors on the travelette, set the dwell, and then power timed it. It's running better now, but I still need to drop the driveline....

Of course mayben is right, but it's not making my life any easier. I messed with the driveline today flipping it 180* and driving it, moving the bearing housing around and test driving, and no matter what I did, it still was vibrating.... Headed up to six states in salem to drop off the driveline and the earliest they can get it back to me is Monday/Tuesday. I've been lacking in the sleep department these past few days getting all my stuff packed so I could be outta here in o'dark thirty on Saturday. Well cancel those plans! How f'n hard is it to make a 10 hour drive south to California?! Obviously for me it seems to be pretty difficult. Maybe I'll have a better outlook tomorrow.....:icon_rolleyes:

California will still be here, be safe and take care of your stuff before leaving. That will make the trip much more enjoyable.

Take your time and be safe about this, a few days will get you caught up on your sleep and give you a fresh perspective. Chad is right California will still be there next week. Best of luck.

Actually, waiting a few more days to migrate allows the overall population of kali-whatever to drop by prolly 50k folks a day or so. But then they are shocked when they hit the road and find out that iou paper the kali-gummint gave out along with that scrip is worthless in the real world! So they gotta turn around and go back where they can spend it.

Ya might look into settling in the state of jefferson, then commute to work in Loomis/Grass Valley. Jefferson ain't got no regs to hassle ya with regarding rollin'/mobile boneyards. Jes' look at trever and the rest of the fwb krew!

Today didn't go as planned, but with some help I made it... Got the driveline back and there was no change as the guy said everything was fine!:incazzato: jacked up the rear end and let it run in drive and you could see the driveline vibrating before and after the bearing. Called up napa and got a new one shipped in within the hour, pulled the old one, slapped on the new one, and the truck is fine now! That took most of the day, so when I got that done we began to frantically pack the stuff that was left and finished up a little while ago. Instead of leaving at 4 am, I'm thinking more like 6.... I'm tired now so I'll update when I get down south!:cornut:

Anyone hear from michael??? He was to leave yesterday but I have yet to hear from him. Tried his cel phone with no luck. I just want to make sure he made it down here safely.

Edit - nevermind. Got a call that he did make it.

The trip went well except for the last 50 feet....:yikes: I was loaded down, weighing in over 16,000 which made for a slow trip down! First gear and 20 mph was required for grants pass and some of the longer passes!:ihih: every body, even the slow semi's were passing me. It took about 14 hours with breaks for lunch and dinner. Got to my new place's driveway and it was very steep, but I made it most of the way up until I lost traction. The guy that owns the house, paul, was able to help pull me up with his pickup. I jumped out to loosen the chain, got it off and was walking back to the truck when I heard a "ping" of the parking pawl as it was coming out of park!:icon_cry: the truck started going back down the hill, I ran and jumped in the door, the trailer hit the dirt bank, spun the pickup around and threw me out as I was holding onto the door. It jackknifed and the pickup spun around and ripped the back bumper off and slammed into the trailer with me in between it.:yikes: the drivers door was open and took most of the impact and it probably saved my legs. I got the wind hella knocked out of me and my legs are banged up, but I'm still alive! I'll be limping around for a while, but that is a small price to pay for what could have happened. The bed got caved in and the whole drivers side was dented/ smashed. The Scout got dented on the drivers side towards the back, but the trailer is fine! The factory weld at the tongue is cracked, but I'm going to grind it out and reweld it. Jeff, my new neighbor, and paul helped to get the trailer moved and the Scout off. Have to figure out why my hubs aren't working now...:incazzato: Jeff used his winch and we pulled the bed into a straighter piece. I also took the fender and door off and managed to straighten the fender into a bit better shape. 4 out of the 6 door bolts busted, so I punched out tho old nuts and welded on new ones. Anyway, the weather has been awesome up here and I couldn't ask for a better job, boss, and living arrangement!:icon_wink:

I thought the first time was driver error. But now I'm not so sure. Maybe its "christine" the truck version. :cornut:

glad you are ok. Way to make a good first impression!

Glad your ok. That other stuff is just a bucket of bolts.
I really like the picture of the train when you were ready to leave. Any more of those? Looks like the mirrors are still good. I always thoght those were the coolest part of that truck. Need any parts?
