78 SCOUT FRONT SHEETMETAL REMOVAL

Afternoon everybody. 1978 Scout II. I need to remove all the sheet-metal and radiator support from the front end? That way I have better access to the motor and can detail the engine compartment is there any trick to this? Can I remove the front quarters inner and outer at the same time? Does the radiator support just unbolt once the quarters and front grill assembly are removed? Any suggestions are appreciated

No short cuts that I know of. Make alignment marks around the hood hinges and door hinges. Yank all three off. Remove front fenders. Remove the grille. This is as far as I've gone on front sheet metal removal. Rad support and inner fenders should be fairly intuitive at that point. I don't think its coming off in one large piece, though.

I pulled the inner fenders and radiator support off together. I didn't try it with the fenders. It's pretty big already. Have your torch handy. I had to heat or cut quite a few bolts. Hit everything with pb blaster several times in the days leading up to the tear down. Have you considered pulling the motor out? It May take just as long, imo

Andy has a point. It might be less hassle to yank the engine out if you have a hoist and engine stand. Then you can replace the expansion plugs quite easily if they need it, as well as any other freshening that would be more problematic with the engine installed.
