Well,
here it is. 1977 Scout traveler that set for a couple decades. It is pretty clean cosmetically other than a cracked windshield and a passenger side mirror that is missing the glass. Rust issues are better than most, some spots on each of the rear wheel wells, and some spots on the passenger side rocker. On the odometer it shows 32,000 miles (which I assume by it's condition to be 132,000 miles. The Scout is untouched, has all smog equipment, stock rallye wheels, stock height, the only butchering I could find was someone drilled holes in the air cleaner to make it "performance". It has the 345 v8, power steering, power brakes, and had cruse control (has been removed, but is included).

It runs, stops, doors open and close. However it does not run when warm. Currently it is not a driver, the engine woes would need to be figured out and I would replace all of the rear brake system, also the rear hatch latches need to be redone. The title is clean, current and in my name. The front calipers are rebuilt, has a rebuilt master cylinder, new plug wires, new plugs, new fuel pump, carburetor has been disassembled, cleaned and assembled with a new kit. The tires were replaced with 31x10.50 studded generic tires that are only a few years old.

The only real damage to it is from sitting. The floorboards are very good, but the interior suffered from moisture. All of the hideous custom midas work has been tore out, the interior is all metal now. Most of the electrical gauges don't work, however lights and turn signals are functional.

No intrest from the forum yet. I'm not too serious about selling it, I don't have it listed anywhere else. If I don't have to work all day tomorrow (mlk day) I'll put in the new pertronix ignitor and coil. That should get it running reliably. If I can get it to behave for a week or two I'll see about tweaking it to pass smog. After all that I May just keep it.

I know it took me a while but at the request of couple different interested parties I wanted to post close up shots of the rust and interior (the dash is apart in the photos, I replaced the ignition switch and had one bad firewall connector, I just have not put the dash back together yet). The steering wheel is complete, just I have not put it back together, also there rear bucket seats and the original fiberglass covers for the bolts that hold the top on (not shown in the pictures)

Bump.

I still have it, this weekend I'm going to make some more time to work on it.

It does run well enough to drive it down the street and load it onto a car trailer, but that is about it. One of these days I should get the engine gremlin figured out...

Price reduced to $850

I now have it out a garcia's foreign car clinic on fairlane road in yreka CA. If you drive through yreka on i5 you can see it parked out in the lot with a bunch of vw's, just look on the east side of the freeway near the south yreka exit.

Still have it. Get in touch if you want more photos.

Maybe part it out? It has a lot of nice panels, I don't think I have seen nicer doors on any other rig.

I'm interested but I won't be able to get down that way untill around the 14th of April.

I'm about an hour 1/2 north of you.

Ok. Amazingly enough I still have it.

I have had one solid offer for $500 which I turned down, I won't go that cheap because I bought it for $500, then spent another $400 for some decent used 31" tires, new ignition switch, new pertronix electronic ignition and coil, rebuilt master cylinder, front caliper rebuild kits, new fuel pump, some new hoses, fluid changes etc.

So, I'm willing to take a loss, but I'm not willing to give it away. At this point I'm ready to part it out unless someone can scrounge up at least $680.00 and come to yreka with a car trailer and make it go away.

Also, if anybody is serious about parts, this thing has lots of clean body panels, and a low milage 345 drivetrain. I'm willing to sell the axles, t-case, engine, whatever as long as you make it worth my while to part it out.

Peter- I'll be in yreka this pm 9-22-10. Is it possible to see your traveller? You can reach me at 541-646-8752. Thanks. Ed

Here is my last attempt at selling the traveler in one piece.

I just listed it on the evil empire known as ebay. You can find it there with a little legwork, it closes on the 23rd at 11am pst.

Thanks for looking!
Peter

And I was feeling bad about not getting any offers on my pick ups, maybe I'm just not asking enough $ good luck with your sale, I hope you come out ok with it. Sob ( sweet ol' boy )

Sold.

I thought there would be some last minute action, but the auction fell flat. Sold it for $539.00, I was surprised that it did not go higher. At least it went to someone who plans on driving it instead of parting it out.

That is the important part. I chose to give henry the pickup to my father-in-law because he loved the truck and will enjoy it. That is bigger to me than selling it and possibly knowing it will get chopped up or wrapped around a tree somewhere.
