68 1200C 4x4 automatic- Vin Location?

Hi folks,
new to this forum, my first post. Glad to find y'all

I'm located in central indiana, by the way.
Have a 1968 1200c with a 304 in her.
4x4 auto transmission, not sure of the model

looking for the vin location on this truck so that I can order a line setting ticket.

A little information about the truck in case anyone's interested.

Runs pretty well, though she's blowing oil out of the dipstick, some out of the exhaust but no blue or white smoke.
Transmission seems to be ok. We've been driving her on short trips until she really started to blow the oil. My local mechanic said that's an indication we need to rebuild or overhaul. They don't want to touch it.

Looking over options for the engine as I try and learn all that I can from this and other forums. I am a woodworker and photographer, not a mechanic, but I'm a smart feller in general.
Not wanting to do the work myself, just want to know what I'm talking about.
My hope is to get the engine in shape enough for this truck to be able to give us a reliable 2nd vehicle and a good truck for hauling, etc.

Thanks you all, if you can help me find the vin then I'll be on my way and no doubt back here with a ton of (hopfully not too) stupid questions.
Cheers!
Whitaker

Welcome to the forum. Man, that is a damn sharp lookin' round body peekup! Even if the engine is complete toast, the body alone is worth doing all you can to preserve. Donor engines are a dime a dozen by comparison. Your vin is the number on the tag just to the right of where it says..."1200c 4x4".
Your auto trans...if still original to the rig...is a borg warner...similar to, but not the same as the Ford fmx.
Oil escaping from the dispstick tube indicates a condition known as "blow by". It might be that your engine is in need of a rebuild as your fraidy-cat mechanic said, or it might simply be that your crankcase ventilation system is not doing its job. That option should be thoroughly investigated before declaring the engine as "too pooped to pop."

Hey thanks! We really love this truck. Soon as I get some shot I'll show some photos of the inside. Really well maintained or restored interior. Glove box has a cracked vinyl but that's about it. Love the search lite on there too. Wife says it makes her feel like the federal b.I.
I'll recheck the crankcase ventilation to be sure. Mechanic said that he'd ruled that out.
This is a truck that we're going to keep a long time, so I want to do right by it.
Thanks for the vin information. I'd read somewhere that the vin was on the frame somewhere and not the number on that tag, or that they might be different. I will use that number to get my line ticket. Looking forward to seeing that!
Dealership plate on the hood is from se montana. Can't recall the name right now, but I'd looked it up.
Thanks, and here comes a million questions!
