350 VSS

I am putting in a TBI 350/nv4500/atlas into my 800 so I am wondering what is the best method of dealing with the vss? The motor is a 1990 I believe and the atlas also comes in 40 pulse only which is not correct for my year of motor. Can I have the chip made to read the correct pulse and if so will I get a proper reading with it in the atlas location? Can the vss be eliminated from the chip and the motor still run correctly?

All basic questions and should be addressed in the parts required FAQ.
So start there.

Many options for the vss including none at all if off-road only.

Take a look and let me know if if there is still questions.

No pulse programming in a 1990 ECM.

My first question is about the injectors. My injectors are the same as the ones pictured for the cop car but according to the listed colors for injectors I have the p/u injectors which would match my engines original application. Am I missing something here?

Second. You say '90 has no vss, does this mean I do not need to worry about it? I thought the vss started earlier. My Scout will be legal and for off-road but will be driven to the trail.

Thank you for your help.

Remember the FAQ's apply to 88-91 TBI.

You "should" have a system that matches your motor. All GM TBI injectors "look" the same. That's why the color code and numbers are given. You need to read the actual numbers on the top of the inj to know for sure.
For a 1990 350 you should have org/blk and the last 4 numbers on the inj's of 5206.

I sorry I dont understand, you say no pulse programming in 90, so will it have a fault code and does it need to be turned off? My buddy has tunercat which I believe allows him to change whatever I need.

the chip will need the fault code turned off.

Yes if you try to run the system without a vss the fault code will need to be turned off.

You May want to read "all" the FAQ's.
It will give you more of an insight to the system.
The basic chip FAQ explains what initial chip changes are made if you plan to tune your own system and program chips.

Keep in mind that if you install the entire system with vss, egr and knock sensor the system will run just fine. There will be no need to program a chip.

You have a complete system, just install it and run it.

There is no need to remove the sensors and program a new chip.

Just follow the wiring FAQ to modify the harness.
If you are not familiar with this system or wiring then you should grab that buddy and have him help you.

Thank you. My buddy will definitely be helping me do this but I am trying to get a few thing straight first. My friend is an electronic engineer so I have to ,at least, have a few things straight before he comes over with the big know-how or he will be fussy.
