This engine is complete, 345 balanced-blueprinted w/ 50,000 and trans is rebuilt w/ less then 1200mi. I can verify the trans, which is professionally built. The engine/ trans is in 79 Scout, heres my question will fit, hook up to my short driveshaft, I currently have 304w/4sp and div. Transfer case. It will have all the linkages, started fan etc. I just want to side it in get a shift cable w/ floor mount auto shifter, get rid of clutch petal, block off master for clutch. Also it a gold box ign. I'd like to use my msd controller and blaster coil, is that poss.? Please advise and May thanks

The engine will swap over no problem, but you'll need to swap some parts from the 304 onto the 345 such as the oil pan, oil pump & pickup, motor mounts. The 4x4 Scout version of the 727 (I'm assuming the donor is a 4x4 model) has an adapter housing and output shaft with auto bull gear on it that allows the Dana 20 married transfer case to be mounted to it. Your truck has a divorced transfer case, so the two will not go together in their current configuration. What you'd need is a 727 from a full-size d-series pick-all, or from a 2wd Scout II. The different style tailshafts and housings can be swapped around between Scout 4x4 and all other 4x2, but the entire transmission has to be torn down to do it. A lot of trouble unless you're doing a trans overhaul at the same time.

Thanks, the trans has been rebuilt so all that work is out of the question, for me, I'm just looking to slide all into my p.u. But at least now I know I have to get a 727 out of 2x4 Scout or full size light line, lots b&w auto's out there cheap, I have'nt been able to find a 727 , yet I'm guessing there in 70's p.u.'s? Not 60's as I have a '65 my thanks! David

'73 and later for sure if auto equipped would have the tf727. Possibly some '72 models also. Anything '71 and earlier will be the bw auto, which really isn't a bad unit.
