345 to straight 6 swap

I've gotten 15 mpg on a few tanks with a 345, t19, 3.54's and 265/70-16's. Average is 12.5 mpg. Running a comp 252 cam Holley 4 bbl and headers too.

My original swap idea was a Chevy 250 . Spec wise they are compatible to the 345 , if I do a Chevy swap it'll prob be a 283 or 305 . ... it'll be in the future , for now I have to replace the broken motor mount bracket so I can drive the damn thing , thanks guys ... I'm sure I'll have another question soon enough

Ok . Ill do my best to get it tuned right.. Make sure vacume lines are routed correctly and points.. N blah blah partridge in a pear tree.... But for sake of arguement. If I was to do a small Chevy 8 ... Like a 305 fuel injected with a mild cam... How much headache?

Sbc swaps have been done plenty of times, so it isn't uncharted territory. What would be your plans for a transmission and transfer case behind it?

From what I understand... As long as I have the chev bell housing... I can keep the rest of the running gear. But if im gonna end up having to change the r unning gear... Might as well go with my original plan of straight 6. If I drop a sbc in should be the simplest swap ... Just leave running gear alone. Then I heard some one say that the drive shafts on the internationals snap under the power... I wont say I believe him... Or that there is any validity to that statement... And upon doing a lil more forum research... I havent heard of such problems... So its not really a concern.

Do a ball park estimate of whatever you decide, and figure out about how much gas that would buy. You could stuff a 4 or 6bt in there and probably get around 30 mpg, but never pay for the conversion with what you save on fuel.
