Hey fellas. I have a 1973 1210 V8 that's been sitting well over a year. Have rebuilt the carb and put it back on the engine. Can't seem to get any fuel up to the carb from the tank. Have tried priming the carb with gas. Truck turns over just fine but the fuel line is bone dry. Looking for suggestions on how to prime that line and get fuel up from the tank. Thanks for the info!

I usually get a rag and an air hose and gently pressurize the tank a little back at the fuel filler neck. Unhook the line before the fuel pump when doing this, you should see some fuel spray out when applying pressure.

You can use a clean water bottle or soda bottle with fresh, clean fuel in it to pour fuel directly down the vent tube into the bowl. That will get the engine lit off with a minimum of starter cranking and allow it to run for a few seconds at a time. A couple times of doing that is usually enough to get fuel sucked up through the pump to where it can start and run as normal.
