192, 152, 304 motor for 1968

Looking for a motor for my 1968 International Scout. My mechanic says these are compatible:

-International 192 4 cyl
-International 152 4 cyl
-International 304 8 cyl
-amc 232 inline 6 cyl


also looking for a transmission!

There is no 192. It is a 196. If your 800 was a v8 model originally, then any of the IH v8's 266-304-345-392 would be an easy drop in. You should spend some time researching on this forum before you plunk down the cash on an engine. Post up a thread in the tech section with some good pics of your engine bay. There's plenty more to consider than just getting a random engine and transmission and hoping they will install easily without the need for major fabrication.

You May also want to reconsider your mechanic's definition of compatible. Normally it means two things that fit together well. He seems to have thrown in lots of elbow grease and billable hours into his version of it.
 
I could have a 152 done up for you if you are still interested. I also have a t90 tans and a d18 transfer to match.

Or please delete this thread if you have already found what you need.
