Hey y'all. I haven't been active on this forum but some of you have probably seen my builds on the planet. Thought I'd share my travelette build here as well. I picked up this beast last spring. It's got a 392 and 727 auto. As you prob know already, all 74-75 travelettes were 2x4s from the factory, and the frames are different than the 69-73 d series. After a lot of questions, head scratching, and staring at this truck I've started on the 4x4 conversion. I started by removing the complete coil spring fa-7 front end. It wasn't easy, but I left the motor in place. I picked up a 74 200 4x4 Travelall for parts. I used it's engine mounts, and the u-shaped crossmember that the 74-75 4x4's have. I also picked up a 78 furd hp Dana 60 and a furd NP205 t-case. I'm using a wfo front spring hanger and ruff stuff shackle hangers which will mount through the old strut-rod holes in the frame. I pulled the rear 52" springs out of the Travelall and am using them for the front springs in hereford. They sit pretty flat and should be flexy. I'm really slow and have a limited trickle for a budget but I think this rig will be awesome. Thanks for looking and feel free to comment, give advice, and encouragement. Cheers, caz
