I have a 72 1010 Travelall with a 392 in it. I have been doing some research and unfortunately, I do not have a line setting ticket for this truck so I am at a lose as to what trans is in it. Tranny works great but the seal on the pan is leaking. I am looking to order a new one along with the filter, so I am hoping that someone my have the same type of vehicle that could give me some guidance. Thanks in advance for the help.

Mention of a filter makes it in automatic. The only two autos that IH used in light line were the borg warner and the chrysler torqueflite a727. Mid-60's through '71 it was the bw. Most '72, and all later auto vehicles had the tf 727. I say most '72 as some of the early ones May have rolled out with that last of the bw units during the transition from one to the other. There are obvious visual cues to distinguish one from the other. The 727 is a one-piece aluminum case, while the bw is cast iron with a bell housing that is bolted to the main body. The 727 uses a throttle valve rod as a link to the carb throttle mechanism. This is often referred to as a kickdown rod, although that is an oversimplification of its function. The bw has no such rod. It uses manifold vacuum via a vacuum modulator and a kickdown switch actuated by the accelerator pedal. Given those contrasts, you should now be able determine which unit you have. Most likely it is a 727. That's my sight unseen hunch. If so, consumable items such as filters, overhaul kits, pan gaskets, etc are the same what would be found in your grannie's '69 imperial, or any other auto-equipped mopar of similar vintage. The main difference is the aluminum case. The IH version of the 727 case is unique and will only fit IH engines.
