Storm Watch 2008...

Anybody have any great storm tales so far?

My best so far was this morning on the drive to work -- I passed an suv way in the ditch on hwy 219 north of newberg - they had there lights on and had a little piece of yellow poly rope tied to the bumper and pulled out in the road (I drove over it)...

Did they really expect someone to stop on a curve and a hill and try and pull them out with there lil' rope?

other than that -- just business as usual. I was at the beach on Saturday/Sunday morning and it was pretty dang cool to wake up and look out the window and see snow falling on the beach..

Made it to work with no probs. Was the first one at work, so put the Scout in 2 wheel drive and spun around the parking lot.:winky: Saturday played in the snow, but there wasn't very much. Yesterday, went up on prarie mountain and wheeled w/ my friend again and really started pushing snow. Man, the Scout needs to get up in the air so I'm not stuffin so much and trying to rip off sheetmetal. Other than that, I really wish work is cancelled right now, so I can go play!:icon_4laugh: more snow please!

Saw a couple of idiots in the ditch on the way to work.
How do you end up in a ditch when the road is perfectly straight, for a couple of miles?:icon_eek:

other than that, sos!

I spent the weekend in camas and there was almost nothing there. But, the wind off the gorge would freeze your finger tips and nose in about 10 seconds. The river was whipped up into a frenzy. I drove home about 10pm Sunday night and the side streets were fawked but the main roads were bone dry and 60+ mph.

I drove to work and worked the portland and columbia county district. 6 hours straight flew by like you wouldn't believe, dealing with an untold number of accidents, slide offs, disabled motorists and abandoned vehicles.

I laughed and cursed at the general public most of the day. Then drove home in 25 degree weather on a big sheet of ice, only to be denied my parking spot in the apartment complex. I really missed my Scout yesterday but the dodge did fine. Today I am driving the explorer with heated seats!!:winky:

Who is in camas?? :dita: :winky: :winky:

Well, predicting conditions tomorrow, I would say that there is gonna be a little bit of ice tomorrow!:sosp: maybe huge snaking sheets of it called roads! Vaselined up the weatherstripping, put the winch on the front ($10 extraction fee!:winky:) took the frozen chains out and put them in the garage to dethaw, and am hoping we will have liftoff tomorrow! Weather man said it could dip below 0 Tonight!

Dam shore weren't our own ken l.! He don't know "where" or "if" hiz ownself is at any point in time. He just follers hiz nose arount. For this kinda weather, he needs hiz ambulance. Problem is...tha ambulance is parked in my pasture for tha winter! Witha $1000 sooperdooper rebuilt ramsey pto winch that can cure most all the problems in tha world.

So tomorrow tha ambulance goes out on mckenzie hiway with "will suk ya outta tha ditch for $100 cash" signs taped on tha doors. Two ditch pulls will gimme enuff cash to git my own new winch motor so I kin quit bein' a winch poser.

I saw a lady in her suped up Chevy suburban with chains on the front tires.:icon_eh:

I saw a blinged out Ford f-350 pass me at around 60-70 mph and giving me a dirty look. I saw that same f-350 two miles up the road more than 100 ft into a farmers field with barb wire wraped up around his axles. :dita:

I saw a '09 mustang (with the go fast cobra racing stripes) off in a ditch. Looked like the hood, motor, frame had bent about 30 degrees skyward. Still had the dealer plate covers on.:icon_eek:

I took the Travelall out in the field and had alot of fun. It was nice to have a shorter turning radius for a while.

Abigail saw the snow for the first time and she was all over it. To bad I can't keep the tractor started or I would have built them a good sized fort.

You guys got any photos? We are seeing some rain but thats just ugly. Would be nice to see some pretty white stuff as well, even the sierras are not getting much snow to look at. Guess there isn't much chance of our drought ending this year. :(

We had 11 cars in the ditch Sunday starting at sundown. 4 tow trucks later, including the one that crashed into the osp cruiser, about 10 p.m. All of them were pulled out and gone.

What was funny was all 11 cars that went in the ditch were there because they stopped to help the person before them who went in the ditch.:icon_eek:

Yeah, needless to say we though the cruiser getting hit by the tow truck was pretty funny. The trooper was not so amused! Lol

Saw one rice burner in the ditch Monday afternoon. Too fast around the corner. Just down the hill from our street there was the backend of a suburban or pickup over the side of the road. Yup, he had 4wd and can go anywhere. Yesterday and today were less eventful; only our street still has ice on it, but it's melting.

Our german shepard really enjoys the snow. I was afraid he was going to slide off the upper deck down onto the lower deck, but he managed to get stopped.

Yeah, he was fairly non-plussed.

I was just glad that he got out of the way before the tow-truck hit him :icon_eek:

they spent a good while taking pics of the damage, and after about 30 minutes everyone was laughing about it.
