Quite a while back now (iirc), somewhere I saw a guy with a Scout 2 take a picture of his rig towing a crew cab Ford on a trailer. Iirc, he bought the truck new and hauled it away with the Scout just to kinda razz the guys at the dealership. My memory tells me it was one of the ihon guys, but my memory isn't as reliable as it used to be. :(

anyway, I had that pict on my old computer, but it's somehow lost. Anybody know where it is? Thanks!

Yeah! Right on! I should have known chris would save the day! I wanted to post that pict on another forum as a part of a discussion and then couldn't find it anywhere. This time I'll be smarter in how I label it, so at least I can find it. :(

Don't forget to credit the pic tonka! This dam plagarizin' of original pics and info has gotten outta hand on some other 'net sites.

Even some commercial sites are rippin' pics off forums such as this one!

Well, although I haven't a clue how to put those fancy watermarks on pictures, I did copy the link to the whole article to post up over there. And it clearly reads it's from Scout madness' website. If this is becoming a rub with people everywhere in cyberland, I guess I should make a better effort to give credit.

Not pointin' a finger at ya Jeff!

This rippin' of "original" pics and info is an epidemic that is all over the 'net due to the ease of doing so. And it's even worse in my eyes when it's stuff ripped from commercial/business cyberventures where the principles have invested much time and money for graphics content production.

I occasionally receive email from folks who are attaching jpegs that I shot nearly 8 years ago and posted on the bb. They claim that they were provided to them from the originator, but they are obviously my pics, I have every pic I've ever shot with any digicam since '96 filed onna backup hd!

I'm playing with several watermark apps now trying to find the best/easiest one that is freeware and can do batch conversions. We use one here at ihon for the online store that works well but can be a bit tedious to use. The ihon pics are watermarked now because they have been ripped in the past by other commercial sites without permission.

After scruuin' around with several different image manipulation software packages, I'm gonna stick with this one for now as it offers a pretty slick "batch" feature for both watermarking and image resizing:

download visualizer photo resize for free

Aka "visualizer photo resize"

don't let the name fool ya, it can do several things simultaneously.

I've been using this one for about six months now and it's still the least painful once ya learn the basics.

Here's a sample image, watermark in lower right corner.

This is the same one that I use.

Michael,
if'n I was a sneeky type guy I would crop the water Mark outa the image and put my name on it like below.

I see most firms put the water Mark in the middle some where so it can't easily be removed without screwin the image.

Once you git the software figured out I should get a legal copy of it for my shiz.

Well, there is an all powerful tool that won't cost a single dime that can do more than any of this stuff. It's command line driven.

What I would do is create a simple image of the watermark. Then use a program like imagemagik To merge it with my picture in one of the alpha channels so it looks something more like clear glass over the image.

Then, if I really wanted to buckle down and own the image. I would use steganography And write hidden data into the image file. Then it wouldn't matter if someone cut out or digitally removed your watermark. You could easily tell if the image was altered and prove ownership in a court of law.

We binders all know that it's not always about the vehicle, but, sometimes, it's all about the tools.

I havn't played with steganography that much. Cryptography is obscuring something from it's original with a way to restore the original.. Like changing all a's to c's. But steganography is encryption without altering the original.. Like writing with invisible ink. Or like writing "this image belongs to drew, you damn thieving bastards" over and over again inside the format of the image itself without ever altering the image. Most likely any newer digital camera has some kind of stegographic message already embedded in the original image, like the camera sn.

Man that drew has a way with words don't he gramps!

In fact...that last check drew wrote to me he used that disappearin' ink shit on. That tellerchick at tha bank thought I was a real dumazz when I handed her a blank check ta cash! And please, never buy any o' them majik decoder rings he peddles, they don't work but they will steal yore atm pin!

That's why he is workin' with chris on the new face of IHSTo_Org! And the rest of us mortals just look at it!

Drew turned us on to this concept, check it out:
