72 Scout II Project

tha hell you mean if theres any desire? Damn skippy theres desire. We love photos here. Any progress is progress comrade. :icon_eh2: but only if theres no mouse crap in the pictures. Ive had a rough time with scouts and mouse crap so I get skiddish around it

Totally agree. I get excited over the most mundane bs pictures. There's just something great about seeing others progress no matter how minimal it is.

Well, I've managed to break down a little on the 72. The grill, passenger fender and passenger door have been pulled. I think I'm going to go ahead and spring clean my shop before I get deeper into this project. Got my brother-in-law's stuff out. Now to do something with father-in-law's, lol.

Hiding behind the fender! If you see one of these, run and scream like a little girl! The wife will understand.

Took the steering wheel and put it on my 74. Was hoping to use the turn signal switch but they're both shot. Will be ordering one soon from IHPA. Tore the dash out and was trying to use the wiring to help troubleshoot my 74. All I can say is, damn!!! IH must have gotten a hell of a deal on green wiring, lol. Also considering using this shifter in my 74 and putting it back in the stock location then reupholster the seats and use them in the 74 as well.

I used the door panels and hardware on my 74 as well as some of the trim nuts but didn't do a full door swap because there's a minor bit of cancer on both of them. This is the passenger door.

I haven't fooled with the driver side but, based on this passenger side, I'm going to have to go with the windshield frame being a total loss. If I feel froggy enough I might see what I can do with it but, a swap is going to be the easiest route at this point.

And I thought the window frame on my beast was bad. I say a total loss on the windshield frame ya got. Be cheaper in the long run to get a good used one. Too bad you aint near me out here in kalifunkia, I have a bare frame here that I got for my rolled Scout

You keep on bringing up CA and you're going to talk me into moving back out there! Not really but, it's a nice thought, lol. I wish there were more folks over this way that were into these rigs. I May end up having to buy a few more and have them shipped over here. Just the luck of the draw that I found both of these rigs.

Little razzing is all. Just in good fun. But I wasn't kidding about having a spare windshield frame, minus glass and hardware. Got it soon after I rolled my 74.

Btw - if you ever decide to visit cali for what ever reason, you be welcome to hang out in my cave.

The day I get either one of these rigs road worthy to my specs the first thing I'm doing is planning a road trip to come see ya scooter! Keep the razzing coming, it's part of the reason I feel at home here, lol. Not sure what freight would cost but, I May seriously take you up on that windshield frame.

So the sun went down on me while tinkering with my 74 so I headed into the shop where I had light. Didn't get much accomplished but, the driver door and fender are off now.

Didn't find anything exciting but I did notice something foul while pulling the fender which led to me investigating the busted washer fluid reservoir. Care to take a guess at what I found?

If you guessed something dead, you guessed right. Luckily it's still cold out here so it's not overwhelmingly foul. The wife called me in for dinner, chicken spaghetti, just in time! I'll deal with this tomorrow.

Mainly focused on getting the 74 road worthy right now so haven't done much more to this rig. I did manage to pull the radiator, transmission cooler, crossmember, passenger side wheel well, master cylinder/brake booster and various other items and wiring tonight. Oh, and I have come up with a name for her. In honor of our fallen friend that I found in the reservoir, she is now called mouse. I do not have any intentions of doing anything crazy to reflect the name though, lol!

Rofl, motivation is a good thing and yes, I'm damn good at makin messes! Just ask my wife.:icon_mrgreen:
yep, mouse will be getting the idi or, what ever diesel I settle on....... I might can get mouse soup added to the menu but, it was turkey butt burgers for tonight. Think it's deer nuts tomorrow night. The soup that was already made sat out of the fridge a little too long and didn't quite smell right so had to throw it out.:nonod:
