Dana 300 lockout switch

I have a 1980 traveller with a Dana 300. The lockout switch (controls the "front axle engaged" light on the dash) is dead.

I can find the corresponding Jeep part in lots of places (like j3211322 crown indicator switch quad wheel lock out Jeep cj 76-86 | ebay), but this part has a single contact (switch to ground), while the one I have has two contacts (switch across contacts).

Does anyone know where I can find the right part? While not absolutely necessary, I'd like the light to work...

Thanks!

I hate it when I'm blind! I blew right by that when I searched - it didn't look right.

Thanks. That does look like it will do the trick. I'll wait to hear back from novek again - I'd rather have one that matches the existing connector. I suspect it's no longer made and on Monday I'll be ordering from IH Parts America.

Lol no worries. Took me a couple minutes to find it. It was not located where one would initially think.

In theory, the single pole switch should accomplish the same task. There is no current through that circuit. All it does is close the ground or break it depending upon where the shift lever is positioned. The dual pole allows a short jumper wire from chassis ground to be connected to one pole, with the wire running up to the dash light connected to the other. With a single pole, you would simply run the short ground jumper to a bolt on the exterior of the case. The dual pole would jive better with your existing wiring. Six of one...elevendyandahalfbillion of the other.

Since we are on the subject, anyone know if they still sell the oem boots for the original switch? I just need the boot, the switch is fine.

it'll work, just don't use the middle wire.

Thanks for the heads up Jeff. Dad just ordered two retainer plates for his Travelall and I got to him after he ordered. He sent you an email asking if you could add one of the pigtails onto his order.

Now, I just need some more overtime so I can buy some more parts from you!! To hell with being fully staffed!:wink5:
