Lookie Lookie, barn finds still exist

Wow! Scored here. Been recently looking to get back into the scouting arena. I found this diamond in the rough yesterday.this is 98.6% pure virgin unmolested Scout for sure. Even found the line setting ticket in the glove box! I need to get a steamer because it is stuck to the back of the glove box. Will post more pix as I go. Glad to be a part of this forum now and I expect to be very active with you scouters, best regards.

The only thing that does not work presently is the horn. Cigar lighter, heater , blinkers , all good. Nice

nice find......

In your speedo pic, what are the 2 extra switches and the 3 red lights for?

The middle switch at 9:00 of speedo is fuel guage selector (right / left). The switch on top and bottom are for fuel tank select. Turn the top one on to activate right fuel tank, turn the bottom one on for left tank. The red light at 6:00 under speedo is a turn signal indicator which blinks along with the green one at 6:00 within the speedo guage itself.

Cleaned up the wheels and put the boots on tranny and tc, put glove box cylinder latchset back on. Sos pads (those things are great) on the chrome gauge rings cleaned up nicely.

Absolutly awesome. Appears to be a doll up champagne Scout to boot. Clues are the metallic gold dash chrome dash pull knobs and light colored t-case knobs. I have a 65 cs Scout.

Please keep updating your thread and lots o pix if possible. I have much info regarding the cs limited production model. Many thanks for rescuing it and sharing.

Aha! My best clue would be the two lines on the line setting ticket about two thirds of the way down that say "doll up ...." -- I thought it was roll up, tee hee. Eyes are the first thing to go, then the knees... So what is doll up? Is it just like what it sounds, they dolled it up with a trim package?

The grey knobs carry on throughout to the turn signal switch and the driver side seat slider knob at left side of seat frame. Still chuckling, and I know she is glad to be in my garage, you can just tell how she perked right up, ready to go ;-) solid keeper!

The champagne and red carpet scouts were developed to marke the 100,000th Scout 80 produced. Guess your vin is 100,000 + so model year would be 64'

the cs consisted of
1) a doll up travel top ( full head liner should see glue spots)
a. Doll up rear (think rear carpet)
b. Drivers compartment carpet
2) color matched steering wheel
3) color matched shift knobs
4) color matched dash
5) color matched door panels (see holes in door around edge)
5) color matched plastic dash top cover (see screws in defrost vents)
6) chromed bumper/s
7) stainless steel wheel covers
8) special paint color (see LST paint chart 104s 1501ch champagne paint code mine)
yours seems to read 54?? Gr metallic green

May be missing some items but most are here. Your Scout does have all of the tell tale signes.

Here is my Scout. Poke around and see the common items.

Indeed, my vin is 113456a
the paint chart reads 104s 5683 gr 4275683
yours looks fantastic. I will probably do just what you did --
drive it for a couple of years and get to know her , getting all the mechanical stuff up to snuff. Thanks for all the info.

Pretty cool, huh? I figure I will drive it for a couple of years just to get to know her. After seeing Robert kenney's resto, its hard to resist, she sure looks pretty. Nicely done.

Hey tim,
looks better every time I see your Scout. The od trans tunnel opening looks like it was added post delivery to the owner. The oem shift lever was cast iron and had a gentle taper in it like the transmission shifter. Still very convinient.

Forgot you asked about the windshield to hood latching deal. Hear it what you should have..

In the video, I made sure to pause at the windsheild area. Hopefully I can find the latch piece.
Ps-- the horn works. Seems you just have to let her get warmed up for a couple of minutes and the electrical comes to life.
