Lookie Lookie, barn finds still exist

Why do you have four shift sticks coming out of the transmission cover? I know you have a manual transmission, a transfer case, but the other two?

Awesome find!

Overdrive, wheels/tires etc.

That overdrive is super cool. Between second and third around town makes a big difference especially--2-1/2?. Of course , after third on the hwy and 65 is a snap. Way cool. I found this wheel/tire set on cl and could not pass it up. My Scout had the 15x8 wagon wheel spokers on there with 31x10.5 r15 when I got her and that was fine except the rubber was toast. These are the same size dunlop mud & snows but on mickey thompson 15x10 and the offset seemed perfect. Before I replace the shocks, I want to do an add-a-leaf just to get another inch or so cuz I still want to keep her as close to stock as possible, being what she is. The only rubbing I get now with an actual tread on the 31's is when I hit a pothole type bump and the front shocks don't do anything so the front tires hit the body. Any thoughts or suggestions on the add-a-leaf? Do excuse my ignorance but it's been 20 years since I have tackled a 4x4 project ('73 Scout II 304) -- '68 camaro took over (chasing my youth) yet again I find myself with the binder...do I change out the front shackles, too? I will certainly do the poly bushings while I'm in there. Oh, yeah, check out the vintage license plate frames I found for the old girl. Ha! Works for me

gotta love that graigs list, I found my Scout on there, the wheels and tires,my camp trailer, and much more. I agree with you, mine is so stock, I hate to mess with it too much. My next goal is to see how well it will pull my trailer and boat. My big concern is hwy speed. There is so much room behind the grill , I decided to try a little ram air. At 50mph + it starts to create positive pressure inside the air cleaner.when I was younger I had a 70 800 with the 304 and loved it, but I traded it in on a 65 corvette. Still I always wanted another Scout.
Btw I have a good driver's side fuel tank if you need one

Scout

That ram air deal is a slick idea. I May take you up on that tank. I have to pull mine (only thing missing is the filler neck and cap hardware) to see what kind of shape it is in. Po replaced the pass side w/new so I am wondering if the driver side needs replacemen--we'll see. I am waiting 'till I get a roll bar or show bar (bikini top) so I can do it all at once. Thanks, btw your Scout looks good.

My #2 son lives in truckee and I hope to get up there before too long, and the thinking behind the small trailer to do a little "back woods " camping. It would be nothing to bring the tank. I was thinking about adding it to mine, but I already have too much to do.

Cool, I will pm you my info. Hey, that bell boy is super cool too--did'nt they make the pt boats during wwii? My brother has a couple of old chris crafts (40's or 50's).

Put the 152 cid logos on there just for kicks. Also found the stone guards for the headlights. Thought I was going to perform a clutch job and as it turned out, the reservoir was empty. Got a new mc from IHOnly and saved a bunch--those guys are great! This is a bitchin' project...
