Remodel pics - 1 month in....

I know this is a truck forum... But dboy was just over and saw the current state of affairs in my kitchen with the super sweet cardboard counter tops and remotely located (in the garage) stove... This is why my truck is parked outside under a tarp...

I thought I would post up pics. Today marked one full month without a complete kitchen - it pretty much sucks. I have almost worked more hours on the kitchen in the last month then I have at work...

Cabinets out and super sweet soffit removed... I hate insulation. And the 4 circuits from the breaker box that 'cut' through the soffit where a nice surprise. :frown2: (think enough man hours to build a complete roll cage)

Most of the way through the tear out - 2 layers of linoleum was a bugger... (think enough hours to complete an engine swap)

Half way through the new floor, 3/4" oak kicks butt! (think 203/205 doubler) oh, did I mention I broke my sliding door during the tear out, even though I tarped it off? $$$$ (think cromo front axle shafts)

Last week with most of the cabinet work done - (think fully built th400 trans with all the bells and whistles, installed!) before the island was built:

The stove in on order and should have been here last week (custom seats and belts), the counter top guy just measured today (probably looking at 1350 driveshafts front and rear), but I can't complain - I'm not the one that has been washing dishes in the bathtub! (I did rig up the dishwasher last week....).

Looks great!
I remember cooking and eating out in the trailer for 2 months while the kitchen was torn apart. You're right it sucks...

I dont know, but I could have sworn they redo a whole house in like a week on extreme home makeover.......... Kitchen looks great!

Btdt as well.

Of all of the remodel projects one can take on, the kitchen has to be the biggest pita to do but the one with the greatest rewards.

We broke more dishes during the two months the sink was out of commission than in all of the years before and since.

It appears as if you are accomplishing a very nice upgrade to your house. Your queen will be greatly pleased!

Looks great, chris. Yup, we did the kitchen too. Getting ready to start a bathroom; fortunately, we have 2.

Best of all, you had a helper this time.

You mean my anti helper?

He steals my tools, jumps on my material, pulls my tape measure....

But man is he fun! He really liked climbing into all the cabinets and hammering the insides with his hammer.

Yes, they are fun.

Just wait until he takes his hammer to the fish bowl........

Or takes your hammer and while your not looking decides it's about time the house had a few more nails put into the siding. Or drops a box of 1" sheet metal screws all over the driveway. I now keep a few cans of fix-a-flat around :icon_evil:

I got my boys their own tool box and we filled them with cheap tools we found at garage sales and my tools have been safe ever since.

the remodel is looking good chris. Makes me want to drop by and visit and check out the work first hand.

This reminds me of a family who used to live in my area and went to my church. Lane owned a body shop where he employed two of his sons. One day his daughter brought home as a test drive a late model bmw that they had just finished rebuilding from an auto auction they bought as a wreck. It was ready to sell. When she decided to take a quick shower, one of her boys decided to use a ball-peen hammer on the sheetmetal "like grandpa does at work" and worked over one side really good. Oh well, back to the shop:eek6:

I know the feeling chris....

My master bath as of last weekend.... Little bit of work to do.... We've been spending the last week trying to see if we can completely remodel the entire bathroom area (aprox 10 x 10) and include a 6' soaking tub, 5' shower, toilet, vanity, linen closet and keep something approaching a walk-in closet..... And not take a second mortgage (I.e. Push out the house, which is on the wish list).... We finally came to the conclusion that between budget and "flow", just repair and replace on the cheap (however dropping about the price of an atlas on a semi-custom vanity and linen closet).

Also had to call jenni in to see your pics...... Your hardwood floor picture reminded me that its been waaaaaayyy too long since we've seen you guys....

We did our bathroom 2 years ago.. Showering outside with a hose was awesome!

But I'm pretty lucky (kind of) my house is super small so my bathroom was less than 1/2 your size. Yikes! That is a project you got there :d .

Here is another pic of my favorite helper. His favorite toy is his hammer. He takes it everywhere - even the bathtub. He will be 14 months in 10 days...
