Barret Lake this year

83 inches wide according to this sight.

I like the idea of this one, it looks like a pretty good / challanging trail... Definatelly one to talk about come summer as it is only open for a few months!
 
I'd like to go...

I hope I'll be narrow enough.

My 60s will be 67" wms to wms, with h2 rims (5.5" bs iirc) on either 12.5" wide krawlers or 14.5-16.5 wide pitbull maddogs.
 
Sounds like fun. Hopefully my truck will be in working order by then so I can finally join all of you. Our wedding will be before this trip too, so much more time available!

Anyone know where to get some inexpensive auto paint-orange? Or someone who doesn't charge much? I don't need a perfect job done, just enough to get rid of the cancer spots and get some color on him!

Sounds like a fun trip. Since my orange pig might be too wide for the trail, it sounds like a good opportunity to pull old yeller out of the garage.

Angela, I had my truck originally painted by macco and they did it right. They did a great job and it looked good all they way up till I started following rock tractor in hollister. I seriously thought I knew a better line.:icon_rolleyes: I'd say paint it after you get a trip like barrett done.

Matt, I can't wait to see your right hand drive in action again. I’ve never done the trail but how do folks like this get in with out any issue?

Found a nice, brief paragraph that sums up barrett:

I’m telling you, if you go to barrett lake Jeep trail, you will have a blast. But, go prepared cause it can and will kick your butt… there are a lot of pokey rocks that like to snag anything that hangs down. It’s challenging. It’s technical. It has all kinds of obstacles from rocks to roots to tight spots between trees where you can hardly help but rub up against them and get dents or at least pine tar on yer rig, to climbs and drops and even some beautiful meadows. Take a camera. Take a fishing pole. Fly rod with small flies works great. There is a forest service campground at barrett lake with a potty so it’s a good place to camp too. Assuming a bunch of ya-hoo’s don’t come in making all kinds of noise and spoil it for you. Don’t forget your spare parts and tools. It’s an in-and-out trail. There is no other way out of there.

I hope it's pretty afordable, not looking for perfection....I have a wedding to pay for. :eek:
 
Atta girl ang. I love the priority -- budget a paint job for the Scout into the wedding. No doubt some guys would kill for a lady who would talk to them that way. :icon_heartbeat:

what did you name your Scout? I think I remember it had something to do with a pig.
 
$400 got me a great paint job for our wedding. You've got to love earl scheib. Yea, they used a belt sander to take the paint down but it still shines in certain light.

That's right cary, eric is a lucky guy. Lol! I named him pig pen. Because no matter how much I try he is always dirty, and I have my pig on the front to represent that too.

That included them taking off the old paint? They didn't do any cancer spot treatments, right?

Maybe a work day is in order late spring.....need a welder to patch up some of my cancer spots!

I'm 87" with full width axles and 3" back spacing. If I had some rims that were 5" back spacing that would take me down to 83.

I've found others saying its 80" wide. Somewhere there a pic with a tape measure

I just went out and measured again. Rear end is where the problem is. 84" sidewall to sidewall. I had to add 1/2" spacers to the rear to protect the hubs. The dually d70hd is a wide pig of a rear end. The front isn't as bad since it is slightly (unfortunately for turning radius) narrower.
 
Found some additional info. It looks like there is some kind of lock box on the posts. The space between the box is 74", if you have 39" tires or smaller you can sqeeze under the box as long as you aren't wider than 84". So I'm still screwed. Pulled the tape out again just to check the orange Scout's width, front sidewall to sidewall is 90".
 
That club also shows it to be a level 10 trail. I.e. Rubicon or fordyce type trail. The post were put in by the forest service. The width was determined a local club and they made it the width of the widest member at that time. It's to protect some trees farther in. I could take my motorcycle:icon_rotate:
