Hallo Gemeinde,
kann mir jemand verraten, wie und mit welchem Drehmoment die Kipphebelwellen bei den SV 304 Motoren angezogen werden.

Hi, danke für die Infos. Die Anleitung habe ich auch, aber da steht leider nichts konkretes zu den Kipphebelwellen. Nur allgemeine Infos zu 1/2 Zoll Schrauben. Ich kann mir aber nicht vorstellen, dass diese Schrauben mit 40-45 ft.lbs angezogen werden. Oder habe ich da was falsch gelesen/ins Deutsche übersetzt?🤔🤔
 
Hi, thanks for the information. I also have the instructions, but unfortunately there is nothing specific about the rocker shafts. Just general info on 1/2 inch bolts. But I can't imagine that these bolts are tightened with 40-45 ft.lbs. Or have I read something wrong/translated it into German? [END QUOTE]

What size and thread pitch are the rocker arm shaft studs?
 
So now I know what I misunderstood in the engine service manual 😔😓 I read the screw size wrong 😭 and therefore tightened the screws with far too much torque. The result was a screw breaking off. Now that's where the real problems start for me, not that I can get the rest of the screw out of the cylinder head but where can I get new screws? Impossible in Germany. If I've converted that correctly from Ft. lbs. to Nm, they can only be tightened to a maximum of 21 Nm (14-16 Ft. Lbs.), is that right? I hope someone can help me get new screws for the rocker arm shaft.

Yes 14-16 foot pounds is correct. They are a standard SAE 5/16-18 bolt. Grade 5 or 8 will work. Be sure to put thread sealant on the bolts, especially the ones that go over the intake manifold ports, or you'll risk having the engine burn oil.

A normal liquid pipe thread sealant works, or even a bit of RTV smeared on the threads.
