NP 202 questions

Hi all. I am working on a 1958 A120 4x4. The transfer case appears to be a NP 202 but there are absolutely no identification marks on it at all. just a "C 94361". I have seen NP200s with the "NP" logo about the size of a quarter. very easy to identify. But on the NP202s there is nothing. I read the thread by gunfighter 97 on the rebuild of his 202 (very detailed and excellent by the way) and in the pictures, his was the same way. no identification just the C94361. Another poster had a similar problem with T case identification. So my question is not what transfer case do I have. I am pretty confident its a NP 202. It has the 10 bolt PTO cover. My question is why did new process not put the very familiar "NP" logo on the 202s? Also, I am guessing my 58 came with a NP201 originally as it has 2 shift levers on the floor and a very faint decal of the shift pattern on the dash. At some point someone switched out the 201 for the 202 and now one of the floor shift levers is not hooked up. it just bounces around. I've been looking for a 201 so I can put my truck back the way it was originally but 201s are exceedingly hard to find. I did see one on Ebay but I will pass on that price.

You'd have to ask that of someone who was well up the chain within the NP corporation, if still alive. It's likely one of those details lost to history.

Not sure why the NP logo wasn't on the NP202 transfer cases, but if you are looking for a NP201, I'm pretty confident I have one out of a 1956/57 S-120. Call our parts department next week to inquire on it and let them know Jeff said via the forums that he probably has one at home.

Thanks for the response. Its just weird that some NP guy decided "yeah we're not gonna put any marks at all on these 202s so that everybody has to guess who made them."
