I just picked up a rear Dana 60. 35 spline (I took the axles out and counted 2x just to be sure), 4.56 gears and the best part? ....wait for it.... Free :dita:

Sorry. When I get around to doing the axle swap I will sell both the front and rear as a pair. Won't be for a while though. If you're looking for a locker for cheap, either get a mini-spool, spool or aussie locker. Those are your cheapest options.

I think I will end up going with h1 wheels and tires and just run a 1.5-2" spacer in front for a while once I pick up a full width d44. I can get wheels (double beadlocks) and tires for $600 so I can't really pass that up. You inspired me Craig with your one tons. I probably won't do a front 60 for a while though. Just too much $$$

My brother in law has a Ford high pinion 44 from a 3/4 ton dont know if the drop is right for a Scout. I can check it out if your intersted?:yesnod:

Thanks, but like rocktractor said it will be a drivers drop. I had a set of Ford axles in san diego from a '98 f-250 when I lived there that I thought about doing the swap, but it was just too involved to have to swap out the transfer case and deal with all the other issues and headache. I will just grab a 3/4 ton GM Dana 44 one of these days.

?????????????

Well, I finally got back in town after being gone all week and have the niggling in the back of my head that the d60 was just too big to be true. So I actually spent some time looking at the housing and plugging the bom numbers into the Dana/spicer site and found that what I have is a Dana 70hd from a c30 dually. :mad2: I know, I know I am an idiot for not knowing right off the bat, but when I have been only handling my Dana 44's for a while everything seems huge in comparison. I confirmed by looking at the webbing on the differential, it was just under some grime. Anyone have any ideas for locking this differential up? I figure I will just keep it since I was looking for a 14 bolt anyways and they are about the same size/strength but is 35 spline.

I was hoping for something less than $700. I measured the wms today and it is 73"(?). The thing is massive!!! It has the one piece carrier not a 2 piece like some of the d70's are. Too bad, a detroit would have been cheaper if it was. I think I will find someone to weld the spider gears for me and run it as a lincoln locker. Here's some pic's
